Choose any animal from mythology, and explain why you think it could contribute to the functioning of today's society, or offer a capability which would be exceedingly useful in the modern world. Animals can also speak human languages, have a human-hybrid structure, or an almost entirely human appearance while maintaining their unique qualities, if only to fit better into human society.

For me, I would have to say the Nemean Lion, as its near-impenetrable skin would serve well in occupations which might involve possible bodily harm, such as construction, law enforcement, and rescue. The extra strength and the impervious claws wouldn't hurt either.

Medusa probably, transmuting any material, no matter how soft, into a hard, firm stone structure would be incredibly useful in engineering. You could mold a delicate shape with a very flexible material, then have it turn to stone to make the shape consistently hard and rigid.

Ooh, I know! The almiraj! It would be useful for... well... nothing really.

I wouldn't mind having a Choujin-Obake for a companion, especially in dark places where he can light dark areas, and you can have your hands free at the same time. I could probably think of more, but I'm not as big an expert on mythological creatures as I want to think.
