I believe this is an argument of the Eastern Philosopher and the Western Philosopher.
Let me ask you a question: Do you want to be successful and important or do you want to be happy and humble?
If you want to succeed in life, if you want to be important, if you want people to respect you as a person, you will need to improve yourself as a person throughout your entire life and work on this improvement, this is the Western Philosopher. If you want to go this route than yes, you will need to listen to constructive criticism. Success if built off failure and you cannot improve if you don't know what you need to improve on. This route will make you a better person but will lead to doubts, insecurity and stress.
If you don't want these doubts, if you want to relax and you don't care about importance, you don't care about any of that, and you just want to be happy with how your life is right now, then you are the Eastern Philosopher. The key of the Eastern philosopher is that you can't have an ego, you can't have pride, you must accept that fact that you're not perfect and learn to accept and be happy with the human you are right now. If you take this route, than you can ignore constructive criticism, you simply have to work on being happy with your current situation. This route will make you happier, but won't make you a successful and driven person.
