(First off, I don't think its considered bullying so please read before commenting anything about bullying)

Ok, I wear a collar to school sometimes because I know there are other furries, but they are rather shy, so in hopes of them coming out I like to wear a collar. Its a plain pink collar. Although most kids find it rather weird, and when I tell them its to show that I'm part of a fanbase and to give courage to others they either
1: get off topic asking what a fanbase is
2: realize I'm a furry, only know the bad side of the fandom and freak out
So anyways, I know its nothing normal to wear a dog collar, but still, is there anyway to get people off my back about it? I mean its just a collar.....

Just say you wear it because you like it, not because it's for a fanbase or for being a furry.

You should be wearing something because you enjoy wearing it.

Just tell them that if there the kind of person you would be willing to tell, they would know. If there a fur trying to see if you are, they'll get it. If not, they don't.

Just tell them that if there the kind of person you would be willing to tell, they would know.

That might actually get things worse.

Tell them it's not only about the bad side.
Some people became furries out of the fact that they only liked the community and how open it is.

Just tell them that you just like to wear it just because. If the person asking is a furry they'll probably be able to tell.

If you're in high school there is nothing you can really do. If you say something to them they will still run their mouths. Honestly, all you can really do is keep wearing it and ignore them or you can stop wearing it and they'll choose something else to talk about. Unfortunately, that's how children act at that age. On the bright side it could be worse they could be actually bulling you.

I'm gonna be perfectly honest, wearing a collar at school is not a good way to attract more furries, especially if people are treating you inappropriately, cause that's just gonna make closeted furries see what happens when you aren't closeted.

So my personal suggestion would be to not wear a collar at school, I just dunno how useful it would be and it'd cause more trouble than it'd solve.

First, I would like to say there's nothing wrong with wearing a collar or anything to school or anywhere for that matter. I (no joke) used to wear a fox's tail when I was younger and walk around my neighborhood with it, it was a tail that you stick in the back of your pants and you can see it hanging down from the pants. People looked at me differently so I know how you feel.

I personally think that if you wan't to wear it, go for it! Don't be afraid of what others say because they are just jerks that are trying to put you down so they can feel better about themselves, trust me, I know; people like that used to make my school life a nightmare, so you're not alone. If they are interested and are asking you about your collar they will listen to what you have to say instead of trying to change the subject.

People that don't get the furry community or ignorant to the fandom will mostly look at the bad side of things, take video games for example, any sane person would know there are no links to games and real world violence, and yet people that don't understand games or ignorant to them will think the opposite because they what it to be bad and will only think bad things of it.

What I'm trying to say is people that don't understand something and won't take the time to understand it, they will think bad about it just because they don't know much about it. If you want to know how to get people off your back, there are no easy ways, trust me, I've been there too; but what I would do is just ignore them or try to hang out with some of your friends. (remember, there are strength in numbers)

With that said, I'm not saying get into fights, what I'm saying is that with more friends around you, it's less likely that you'll be intimidated by jerks like how you mentioned on how they act (I'm not saying that you are intimidated by them I just thought I'd mention it), I know it's easier said than done but as I said before: "There are no easy ways". In any case, I hope this was helpful and if you would like to talk further, just ask or PM me. If you like, you can add me as a friend on here so we can keep in touch.

To be honest I never looked at it that way. Course, the only reason I started wearing a collar was because my friend (also a furry) wore one, and cat ears. So I joined her, and then later someone wore a wolf tail. So......idk.
