Fursuit advice

So I'm thinking about getting a fursuit for my character and I'm trying to buy the clothing ahead of time. I plan for to wear a hockey jersey on top of my fursuit. (Hurray heat+1) I usually wear a mens large for shirts. Do you guys think an XL would cut it? A large is already pretty spacious for me, especially when it comes to hockey jerseys. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.
