Furry language?
« on: March 23, 2016, 07:36:47 PM »
I know this might sound weird at first, but I'm thinking of having (a/some) language(s), that members in the furry fandom will speak (well it's not strictly required, just an interesting thing to add to furry culture.) also, while not something I'm opposed to, it should be a modified script of either English or korean; but it could be completely original, like Klingon or something. I have two conflicting ideas/thoughts in my head; one part of me says that a completely new language would be hard to learn and also useless because there's no country that speaks it… however, another part of me says that if it is simply English with modified characters, it wouldn't be too interesting and would be more like a kiddie 'secret language'.

Personally, I'm leaning towards the new language creation sort of thing; because, the fandom could put words into it that don't work in english, and, provide new ways to describe things or form new ideas. But, if it used some roman characters with new characters and sounds created, I would find that a happy medium.

I've seen some pretty decent things on 'omniglot.com', so who knows?

Tell me suggestions and stuff. Also, sorry for the bad structure of this post; I'm really anxious right now and also absolutely livid at the same time.

Edit: sorry, posted it in the wrong board by mistake

If we had a language exclusive to the furry fandom, it would certainly be a first for something like a fandom to have (at least as far as I know). But wouldn't it be a bit intimidating for those who are just simply interested in anthropomorphic animals, much less making our subculture even more alien to those outside? I just don't see a point in creating a whole new language for furries anyway.

Sounds cool, but not a good idea. There are Mandalorian fans(I'm one) and we have our own language that is growing. Most Mando fans don't know it, and there are many different dialects already. You can get a good idea what others are saying, but you never can be sure. It's fun, but impractical and can drive people away.
