Honestly yes, idealism has become the new religion (or in later days, i think at some point in the past it kinda worked?) people not looking anything because they have a idoligy supporting their belifes, are a dangures bunch.
As a example, i have been raised to think comunism is all good and dandy and nothing wrong with it. And arguing "what about china and russia" i get the answer in the style of "they **censor** up, we won't". Then pointing out that left wing extremist is doing more damage here then the right wing, they think i am wrong because they have had this ideologie for so long that they can't look for errors in it.

Well yeah its like a lot of people today have no sense of pragmatism to go with the idealism. It's probably always been that way to be honest.

There is a reason why pure idealists are either unremembered by history or are vilified as some of its greatest mass murderers hypocrites and warmongers.

"There is a reason why pure idealists are either unremembered by history or are vilified as some of its greatest mass murderers hypocrites and warmongers." Spot on

and as you say, idealims have probably allways been that way, but i think atleast here where i live, it used to mean something. It was more about the ideologie itself then power and money as it is today. Problem is as i stated before, my parents for example still belive we live in such a era and don't read up on what the left are doing in our country. As a example, they started to talking about border controlls after the right wing extremist did, kinda odd that a ideologi swings around after they counter part made a statement?
