The incredible springs from the mundane, so think of what an average day is like for someone then figure out why it's like that. For example, someone goes to a temple, so what religions are there? symbols? idols? deities?
what kind of town is this tavern in? big? small? how far to the nearest major city? what does that mean for trade and general population and opportunities in that town?
What country is it in? Peaceful? wartorn? aggressive? culture heavy? recovering from some major disaster? riding high on a cultural and technological revolution?
What kind of tavern is it? what kind of talk floats around? Is it more, "Did you see the match last night?" (if so, then what sport? what cultural significance does that have for the country?) or is it "Have you heard about the army?" (If so, what military operations are going on? Should the people be scared or proud?) or is it "What do you think about that celebrity?" (Sounds quite peaceful but that celebrity could be important to your story in some way.)
Also what rules this RP has, such as, if there's magic, what kind of people have such powers, how does the world view them?
The little things are caused by the big things, the big things are caused by a lot of little things. That's one way to create a world.
