Pretender
quietly, they creep into cramped spaces
Eyes lit up in ghastly display of power
While their claws scratch the floorboards
Sendin shivers down the spine.
Many heads turn noses to the wind, scentin
A new type of prey, its fear callin to them
Cryin for a release from all its pain
Pain of bein a Pretender, a cheat.
The pain hidden from the world
Fakin the truth and tryin so hard
Keepin the anxiety away from pryin eyes
Maskin it with a smile and a pretty voice.
While the truth keeps her up most the night
She struggles for control over it all
Choosin instead to fall apart where no one
Knows and hopin life will get better.
They scamper and skitter to her side
Lyin in wait for the Pretender
Her eyes catch the light in theirs
And she smiles, steppin forward.
They close in on her, their bodies aflame
Full of sin and the equivalent of shame
Where there is no escape and no life
Her eyes close, she takes a breath.
Monsters grab her by each appendage
Reachin and pullin her with all their might
So that by the time they are done
Her screams have echoed through the night.
The One
Silent is the one whose heart is broken
Cold is the one whose hands are shakin
Blind is the one whose mind is muddied
And deaf is the one whose thoughts are buried.
Dumb is the one whose world is shattered
Fierce is the one who said it never mattered
Quiet is the one whose eyes see nothin
But justified is the one whose mind won in the end.
Lost is the one whose body tricks others
Into believin one means no harm, poses no threat
Shattered is the one whose tears fall in solitude
Frightened is the one whose screams echo silently.
Terrible is the one whose words cut others' hopes
Cuts their dreams apart to self-satisfy, to help
One soul that can cause chaos and destruction
And reduce importance to nothin, revealin emptiness.
Monster
Everything falls apart with one careless gesture
One cold word and the world shatters
Twisted into a sick fantasy of horror
Horror and unrequitted feelings
Guarded from all others and losing.
No amount of sympathy or good intentions
Could erase, undo, the destruction laid out
All the fear, the heartache, the emptiness
Wrung out over several days for another's fun.
For anything would be done to please, abate
The wrath of an angelic face and devilish heart
Demon whose pleading eyes trap easy prey
Prey that might potentially pose a threat
If not otherwise contained and monitored.
Slowly the truth will trickle inside
Break through the fog and wake up
The beast that longs to seize control
Let the demon-angel catch herself
Deep within her own labyrinth and
Make her suffer for the chaos caused.
Forced to understand all the pain, regret
Every terrible blow dealt to another
Rethinkin what words were used, and held back.
Just wanting it all to fall back into place
Wishing to not have been so creul, so heartless
The eyes changing to reveal hidden pains
Knowing it won't change his mind.
Bleeding black tears from every agony
Lying on the frigid ground to accept the
Inevitable defeat that's coming her way.
Sleep in peace, angel of dreams
And know you are safe from her disease.
