Utopia?
« on: March 19, 2011, 12:16:38 AM »
okay, just a little background on this first. This was inspired, at the time, by some movies, a dream I had, and a few horror novels I read. It kinda made me want to write something creepy. I don't have a working title, but I was thinking of 'Utopia'.
This is sort of a Sci-Fi/Supernatural thing, and I will make up more as I go along, as I don't have a definate......ending. or anything. there's one major swear that I censored out of respect.

Setting: An earth-like world. Mainly, two cities. A torn-down metropolis known as 'Utopia', and the country-side outskirts of 'Sima'.

Starring: Eric, a 15-year old fox with no recollection of his past except for his name, age, and the name of a girl: Maria.
Tim, a 22-year old wolf and a prior resident of Utopia. Before the Change Of Man, he worked in the one perfect building left in Utopia; Macoro Industrial Services.
Mary, a mysterious unigan girl, appearently from heaven. Her true motives are hidden, AND SHE WON'T BE SHOWING UP YET SO SHHHHH.

The Antagonists: Shadow, a supposed shadow, that talks to Grandel.
Grandel, a being of unknown origin, who refrains from taking any immediate action in the 'destinies' of the heroes unless it is absolutely needed.
The Changed, strange creatures who can only be seen in the light. Exactly what happened to them is shrouded in mystery, as they seemed to exsist before the Change Of Man.
 HERE WE GO!

     Prologue
"Oh. Shadow, you're back so soon"
   ...
"I see. He arrived in Utopia already....Has he made contact with Tim?"
"No? And....Mary?"
.....
"Oh shadow, you sly dog you! I guess they really are fated to meet, if she's been banished so quickly! Things will most definately become more challenging in this little game!"
....
"oh shadow, you slay me. I'll fry up some nice juicy steaks for you right away. Who's a good Shadow? You are! Yes you are!"
"Heee heee hee hee!!!!"

   Part One: Eric

'Where am I?' was the first thought that popped into Eric's head. The last thing he remembered....what was it...Mary. Mary....who the heck was that? He shrugged off the name and looked down at himself. His clothes were pretty dirty. A ripped-up black sweatshirt, and dirty blue jeans with holes throughout. A small knife with a ruby pressed into the handle was underneath his paw. Without thinking, the young fox gripped the handle and raised it in front of his face. This.....this was important. He needed this, right? Yeah, it seemed important. For the first time, now, Eric decided to look around at his surroundings.

The buildings around him were collapsed into rubble. It was absolute trash.A billboard, slightly shattered, was about 100 feet away. It read 'Welcome to Utopia: The Perfect City". Yeah, perfect. That was a laugh. Everything here was trashed, except for something about 50 feet in front of him. A building. A skyscraper with a weird dark-green glow about it. The building itself was painted black, except for the clear windows. However, no light shone from most of the windows, so they appeared to be black as well. The lights that did shine flickered spastically, as if they were dancing to some strange beat. He forced himself to stand, still holding the dagger, as he walked towards the building, slowly.
"Hello?" he called out. "Is anyone here? Anywhere?" he shouted. As if he could expect an answer. This entire 'city' was in ruins, and there were....bones on the ground. But still, Eric forced himself forward, to the door. The clear glass door looked automatic, but when Eric walked up to it, nothing happened. He pushed on it a little bit, but it didn't budge. With a light sigh, eric pressed his paw up to the glass, and looked inside. A computer screen flickered, as did a couple ceiling lights. A potted plant was knocked over, dirt scattered across the floor. A chair was knocked over as well. This struck Eric as odd, but what was really, strange, and even a little terrifying, was the phone placed on top of the receptionists desk in the center of this area. It was crushed, as if it just decided to fold in on itself, yet the red call button still blinked on and off ever few seconds. This thing was most obviously destroyed, so how could it even function? With all his might, Eric forced open the doors, and pushed his way into this building.
Now, a normal persons first thought would be to run away, and that's exactly what Eric would do, but for some reason, he felt something calling out to him inside of this place.
come on in. step right up, little boy.
Eric's fur bristled, as he heard these words, although he knew that they were simply coming from inside of his own mind. After all, as far as he knew, he was the only living thing around. He approached the desk cautiously, peering over to see if someone......or something was there. In the next moment, Eric forced himself to control the urge to vomit. There was just blood everywhere. everywhere. It was like some terrible slasher flick. Blood smeared across the floor and desk, and the computer. But no body.
"What the hell?" Eric muttered to himself. "What the hell happened to the body?" Eric tried to shake off the horror-movie notions that came to his mind. Cannibalism, ritualistic sacrifice, maybe it was burnt to ashes. Who the hell knew. Eric kept the knife held steady in his paw, but he doubted a knife could fend off whatever did this. He wanted to say whoever, but instinctually he knew it was a what. Eric saw two options at this point. His body obviously wasn't going to let him leave, so he could either take the elevator, or go into the dark corridor to his left. Either way he was screwed. The electricity was failing in this place, and he might end up trapped in an elevator. And god, how he hated closed spaces. So, corridor it was.
"If anybody.....i-is in there...." he stammered, his body shaking as he walked. "Come out now!"
            Silence.
Eric continued down the hall. He didn't sense anything following him, or watching him. In fact, in the cool darkness he felt safe. Such an alluring sense of security in here. He began to ease up a little as he walked down the hall, relaxing into the darkness. The next thing he knew, he was grabbed by his waist, a paw clasped over his mouth. 'What the hell is going on!?' Eric thought, as he flailed around, trying to slash his attacker. The young fox flailed about and tried to scream, but barely any sound came out through his muffled mouth.
"Stop it!" said a harsh whisper. "Just F*cking stop it or they'll find us!" said his attacker.
Eric didn't know if this was good or bad, as 'they'll find us' could have been a reference to the authorities, or to whatever thing was lurking in this building.
'Oh god' Eric thought to himself, tears beginning to well up. 'What is he going to do to me!? No please....just make him let me go, somebody....' He flailed some more, but his knife couldn't make contact with his attacker. All of a sudden, he was swung and thrown into a small room, and the sound of a lock clicking shut was heard. The room was fairly well lit. He assumed his attacker was on the outside, but he turned around only to see him staring face to face with a........wolf. Silver hair palled back into a ponytail, and ruby red eyes that seemed to shine with a strange light. He wore a black sleeveless shirt and black jeans, and a black belt and black combat boots. Eric felt....mediocre, compared to this man. Yes, this wolf was a man, obviously an adult. This scared Eric even more. He felt like screaming, but didn't.

"My name is Tim" the wolf said. "Now. What the hell were you doing out there?" he asked.
"I.....I don't know!" stammared Eric. "I just woke up here!"
              "....Woke......up.....outside of the building?"
              "Yes"
"Take off your shirt right now!"

Eric blinked. "Woah WHAT!? Hell no I don't do that buddy!" he said, he voice escalating, before Tim slapped his paw over Eric's mouth yet again. He used his other paw to slip up the foxes shirt. On Eric's stomach was a black wing-like tattoo.

"Ho-ly s**t" said Tim. "They were right! Those F*cking things out there were right!" Tim laughed a bit, moving away from Eric.
"I'd like an explanation" Eric said, fixing his shirt angrily.
" If I could give you one I would!" said Tim. "But see, there are things out there. Things outside of this room that wanna kill unlucky people like you and me. See, they kinda calmed down a while ago, but earlier they kept shouting 'The one with the wing tattoo! when he comes, get him! get him and fill that hunger! we need it!'
"Wing.....tattoo?" Eric asked. "This thing on my stomach? I don't even remember having it. To tell the truth, I don't even remember anything except that my name is Eric, and that there's someone out there named Mary. Anyways, what are these things you keep talking about?"
"I don't really know" said Tim. "The people that worked here called them 'The Changed'. They were all people that came in here for some experiment, I guess. Exactly what happened to them I don't know, but they turned into these wierd.......things that can only be seen in certain light, and they killed most, if not all of the people in this building" at this point, Tim started laughing to himself. "To think, I signed up for that experiment! I'm pretty glad I got rejected, heheh"
"So.......where does my.......wing tattoo come into play?"
"How should I know?" Tim asked. "All I know is that they think you can fufill their 'hunger'. Don't know what's so special about you though. You're just a little fox after all"
"Tim......" muttered Eric. "since you know they want me, why are you keeping me here?"
"Two reasons" said Tim. "First of all, if I go out there, they'll probly get me! And second of all, I am not gonna be some brute that sacrifices a kid. Look, we just have to last until morning, and then we can take off to Sima. These things HATE the sunlight, cause that's when we can see them"
"How do you know all of this?" asked Eric.
"I been coming back and forth from here for about a week" replied Tim. "There's a weapons manufacturing part of this building, see. And I figure if I can get in there, then I got it made and I can kill all these things and restore this place back to a Utopia. And then everyone from Sima can come here"
                "What's Sima?" asked Eric.
"You'll find out tomorrow, okay....." whispered Eric. "I'll stay here with you for now, but if we come here tomorrow, you're on your own"

end of part one
