Restarting my RP: Starfox: Hybrid Ascension a Pokemon/Starfox Crossover

This RP depicts a war between my personal space nation of Pokemorphs, the United Planetary Federation, and the Republic of Lylat. It is the year 2520 and the UPF was hit by a disease which rendered much of their agricultural planets inhospitable. Probing for a planet capable of sustaining crops, a lone UPF scouting vessel came under fire from a whole Lylatian fleet. The paranoid anthros showed no mercy and destroyed the ship, killing numerous men, women, and children. This was a death blow to the already unfruitful negotiations between the two nations; as the Lylat President, Joyce Aaron, labels them war mongers due to Lylatian xenophobia. The Federation, faced with no choice, responded with a full invasion of Lylat space to relieve their starving homeland. Below you will find the outlines of the two factions:

The United Planetary Federation:
If you like Pokemon then this is the go to race! The Federation is a Democratic Benevolent Monarchy lead by the inspirational President Buster Rivers (AKA: Me  ) They were forced into war with the Cornerians because of a plague wreaking havoc upon their system and rendering many of their planets uninhabitable. Although their technology is far better than the Cornerians and their abilities are unmatched they are low in number and rely on training and superior weaponry to fight. The Federation has many important figures in their government and military. Aside from President Buster Rivers there is his wife; Vice President May Rivers (A Flareon) and Supreme Fleet Commander Nick Sintari (AKA Sytex, my friend and a Charizard). Other major characters include Special Operations Commander Clair Sintari (A Salamence), Lt. Zak Sintari (An Absol/Char Hybrid, son of Clair and Nick), Captain Micheal Rivers (A Glaceon, son of Buster and May), Lt. Tanya Rivers (A Vaporeon, twin sister of Micheal), Tech Officer David Rivers (A Jolteon, also a son of the President), Elite Corps General John Bradley (A Buizel), Lt. Ammad Bradley (Buizel, John's son), Army General Robert Lee (A Zorua), Lt. Ghost Lee (Zorua, Robert's son) as well as others. They employ a few specialist elite squads to counter Star Fox and Star Wolf. The best Special Ops squad is Task Force Frostbite, comprised of Micheal, Tanya, David,  Zak, and Ghost at the beginning of the war. To counter Star Wolf they have the elite team of Black Claw Squadron: Field General Mark Gilbert (A Vulpix), Lt. Chris Gilbert (Vulpix, Mark's son), Captain Suki Brown (A Purrlion), and Roy Ming (A Dewott). Fight for the Federation!

Republic of Lylat:
Anyone who has played Star Fox will know this. But there is a some differences in this realm. After the invasion of the Anglur. The Lylatians have become extremely xenophobic due to numerous invasions over the course of their history. Their Current President, Aaron, is no exception. He fired the first shot at a civilian scout vessel belonging to the Federation. He views them much the same as the Anglur and Andross, as the evil invaders hell bent on war and suffering. What he does not understand is that the Federation was forced by his actions into this war and the fact that they're only fighting to save their race. Meanwhile Star Fox is still the elite of the elite Special Forces of the Lylat Republic. Lead by Marcus McCloud, they are a worthy adversary to Task Force Frostbite. Other members include Jake Toad, Marcie Hare, and Falco Lombardi. Fox McCloud has assumed the Supreme Commander role of the Lylat Republic. The rest is pretty much known by many furries so there is no need for an explanation.

Mind if I ask for a bit of premise and / or setting? You say Pokemon / Starfox crossover, but that covers the population. What is the hook for the story?
