Nikuay stood on the bow, watching in horror as the air ships exploded in front of her, the screams drowned out by the sounds of the explosions. She knew tears were running down her cheeks. She knew others were crouding around, watching as loved ones died in front of their eyes. She knew her arm was still bloody from the pandamonium on the docks when she'd fallen. And yet she cared about none of it. The only things she could think of were the bodies of her family being the only things left of her old life.
Nothing mattered right then. Her whole life was gone within seconds. And she couldn't do a thing to stop it.
