Looking for a job...Odd idea
« on: February 14, 2012, 09:58:51 AM »
I'm applying to a pet store (mostly supplies but I believe they carry fish there) & I was wondering if it would possibly help me get the job if I wore my tail (ears would probably be a little much but who knows).

I didn't plan on actually going furry for any jobs, but at a place like this it might actually help my chances & wondered if any of the more life experienced furries could advise me on this.

No...
What a job wants is for an employee to be professional, so I think you'd be better off just coming in without the tail.
For a non-fur, no matter what job you're going in for, wearing a costume to work would be considered silly, and it would be hard for them to take you seriously.

I think it would be a slightly different story if they already knew your talents and work ethic was good and you came in with a tail or even paws on, but even then it would be a bit iffy...

I agree with TheRedeemed.

Your first impression needs to be your best. Show them that you are a fantastic employee with matching work ethic, drive, dedication, and professionalism. Personally, I wouldn't wear anything like a tail or ears to work at all unless it was a special occasion (like Halloween or some store-wide event).

I would greatly suggest against wearing anything "unprofessional" to your job.

The idea with job interviews is that you want to BLEND IN as much as possible both in dress code, makeup and such. I arrived at my kindergarten wearing outdoor clothing, smelling like a camp fire because I had been doing that earlier that day. Not professional I admit but it made a good impression on the boss.

If you come to a bank; look like a banker. If you come to a youth club; a funny shirt or laid back clothing might be good. You wanna show the business you're just as good as the rest.
