General Questions about Fursuits
« on: May 24, 2012, 01:16:20 AM »
Just thought I'd start another one of these, but more personally:

How do you go to the bathroom in these? Where do you wear them? Is it cheaper to buy or custom build your own? What age did you start fursuiting? Have you told anyone about it?

I also have some questions regarding sex and stuff, so if anyone is willing to answer them, the please private message me.

I don't fursuit myself, but I can give you my opinions on these.

How do you go to the bathroom in these?
Well I am under the impression that fursuits are made of smaller parts like the top body, the bottom, the paws, feet, head, etc. So, by breaking these fursuits into parts you can go to the bathroom by taking off the bottom part of the fursuit similar to taking off your pants.

Is it cheaper to buy or custom build your own?
Cheaper to custom build your own, because when you are buying a fursuit you are paying for the material and the labor it took to make the fursuit itself. However, making your own can be more difficult.

Actually, unless they are partial suits (like just a head, arms with paws, and feet) the suits are full-body and you actually have to strip out of them to go to the bathroom. Note that this isn't too hard.

I'm going to have to correct the last poster in the fact that there are two different ways to go about designing the main body of the full fur suit.

The one-piece body is the more traditional way to go about the full body, and has to be striped out of to use the bathroom.

The split suit is a design where the feet, legs, torso/arms, hands, and head are all separate pieces. This style is just like normal clothing, and can be used as a partial suit or a full suit. Using the bathroom is just like with normal clothing, unless there is a lot of padding in the legs (The digigrade legs an example).

Building your own requires a lot of time and dedication to the task, only paying for the materials, and a lot of trial and error on some of the design aspects (Mostly in making the templates). It's cheaper to make it yourself, and you are responsible for making all the decisions about how to make it, but you end up having to make all your templates from scratch.

Designing a fursuit you can have sex in is possible, but a lot of Fursuiters will dislike you if you talk about that aspect with to much detail.

Which is why originally I wanted to be private messaged. I'm uncomfortable to share that aspect of things on here..not something for public discussion, but I am genuinely curious.

Are they hot? How comfortable are they? Do they have to be super baggy?

Thanks thagrahn. I consider those "partials" but I guess they still qualify since they can technically be both.

The head is definitely the part that makes all fursuits hot. Designing a head that allows airflow of some kind is herd off, but I haven't seem many examples of it.

Having something solid covering your head (A fursuit head or a kevlar combat helmet) can result in the body reacting as if it's 10 degrees Ferinhieght[spell check hates this word] hotter than it actually is, and a heavy suit on top of the head can be as much as 20 degrees hotter. This means a normal fursuit worn indoors will feel like it's in the mid 80's to 90's in temperature since most buildings keep the temp around 70 Ferinhieght (21 C).
