For books/movies/games/music, I'll give just about anything a chance, but the ones I tend to gravitate mostly toward are;

Books: I tend to go for Sci-Fi/Fantasy type stuff
Movies: It usually tends to be the more psychological thriller-type movies that stick with me, but when I'm not in the mood for those, I go for comedies, generally
Music: Mostly Rock, like, '90s alternative-type rock (favourite band is Foo Fighters), and some hip-hop as well
Games: I tend to like more story-focused games, like Mass Effect, or games with interesting art direction (not sure if that's the right term), like Assassin's Creed.  Oh, and some music games, too - I play Rocksmith in particular quite a bit.
