Captain Vasser ran through the thick forest, the only light coming from the flashlight at the end of his rilfe, and that coming from the pale full moon. He looked over his shoulder, panting, searching for the thing, the monster. He wasn't sure what it was, but it was there, and it was dangerous. It had killed off the rest of his unit, and now it was toying with him. It would wear this one out before it had it's meal. Vasser knew that he had no chance. He heard the bushes rustle behind him, and he stopped running, there was no point. "Better to face this head on while I have a bit of my sanity remaining" He said to himself, and turned towards the bushes, bringing up his rifle.
"Come out and face me, monster" Vasser said to the night air, searching for his attacker, "Let me see the face that murdered my friends."
The bushes parted, and the creature stepped forward. It walked on four legs like some sort of disfigured wolf. It had bloody, spiked teeth that were now cackling, and black, soulless eyes. It walked towards him casually, almost taunting him.
Vasser aimed his rifle, and placed his finger on the trigger. The creature snarled and lunged towards the captain, pinning him before he even had a chance to react. Vasser struggled under the monster's grip, but he was no match. He could smell the blood on it's teeth, and he knew that his would add to the stench soon. The creature opened it's mouth, and slowly bowed it's head until it was nearly centimeters away from Vasser's, and dug in.
Captain Vasser woke fretfully, sweat beading down his entire body, shaking as images of his nightmare flooded his mind. He rolled over on his cot and looked at glowing red alarm clock.
It read 5:57, three minutes before it would have gone off had he not been awoken. He got up and turned it off before heading into the bathroom and washing his face. Looking in the mirror he saw that his face was pale, His eyes were bloodshot, and his lips were red. "This is going to kill me" he said to himself before exiting the bathroom.
He continued his morning routine of showering, getting dressed in his uniform, which consisted of a black all weather jacket, black cargo pants with the ends tucked into black boots. On the arm of the jacket was a patch which read, "Q.R.C." along the top, with a skull in the middle and "Quick Response Containment" along the bottom.
Vasser quickly made himself a cup of coffee, skipping breakfast as the nightmares he had usually woke him up with no appetite at all, and exited his quarters, heading outside to the base.
(I have intentions for finishing this, unlike -22 and dropping [Which nobody remembers, Ok? Ok.] and I will be putting up the next bit as soon as I can, probably tomorrow. For now I ask for your suggestions and critiques of what I have written so far whilst I go make some brownies. Ta-ta for now
