How should I paint this mask?

Yesterday I got home from a trip to New Orleans and I bought this cat mask while I was wondering around. I want to paint it but Im not sure how I want to paint it.

any ideas on how I should paint it?

Im not really a good painter, but I would say to add a bit more features to make it look a bit more realistic or add more definition to certain features to make it look more like a cat and less of a mask.

Ah man, it almost looks like one of the splicer masks from Bioshock. I dunno if you like that game, but you could easily make it into the cat splicer mask!
