Beautiful Crimson (done as a request)
« on: July 18, 2015, 11:10:08 PM »
Jane couldn't see. She was certain her eyes were open, yet she definitely didn't see a thing. Just blackness. It was impenetrable and absolute. She could feel something against her cheek, it felt soft and warm. It was kind of inviting. She slowly lifted her head and squinted as there was suddenly light. It was blinding at first and caused her to become disorientated so she stayed in place until she came to her senses. Once she had, she came to the realisation that the soft, warm thing against her face was a cushion. She was on her couch, in her house.
"Oh..." She remarked absently. Her mind a little preoccupied with the fact she had no idea how she even got there. A yawn escaped her lips. Maybe she was still too sleepy, so she couldn't properly recall what had happened.
"Then I need to wake myself up somehow. Maybe...erm..." Her eyes scanned the room and came to rest on something lying on her table. It was a brightly wrapped, unopened lollipop. She quickly snatched it up and opened it, shoving the treat in her mouth. She had a penchant for sugary treats, it just happens that this time it'd be helpful as it would probably help her wake up and she'd be able to recall what happened.

Jane had been suckling the lollipop for a while and there was no way she wasn't awake enough to recall how she ended up on her couch now. Yet she could not. It couldn't be she was still sleepy, she could feel the buzz she was getting from the sugar up her spine and she felt completely alert. So what was it then? Her foot tapped against the ground repeatedly, as if the monotonous movement could get the gears in her head turning. This went on for several minutes to no avail. She just could not bring the memory of how she got on this couch to the front of her mind. She was clenching her fists and the tapping of her foot had become more of a light stomping. She was becoming frustrated.
"Whatever! It doesn't even matter really, I'll just forget it, go for a walk and enjoy the sunshine." And that's exactly what she did. She got up, grabbed her coat and stormed out of the house.

It was chilly out that day. The breeze had a subtle bite to it and the clouds obscured the sun, like a grey veil in the sky. Jane regretted going outside almost instantly. It did nothing to help her frustration. She let out a long sigh.
"Of course it's all gloomy today. Couldn't be sunny just for my benefit, just once." There was a note of cynicism in her voice as she spoke. She stopped for a moment. Was that really her? She had complained before sure but she'd never adopted a cynical attitude or tone. She was never that negative. It felt a little weird, like the words belonged to someone else yet came from her. She shrugged it off and continued on her way. It probably wasn't a big deal, just a momentary lapse in her usual positive demeanor. Whilst walking her mind started to wander. She wondered why she couldn't recall ending up on her couch. Now that she thought about it, she couldn't recall much of what happened to her at all last night. Weird. That's definitely not normal. She started to ponder on what the possible causes could be when she was suddenly interrupted by an abrupt thud and the feeling of something solid in her way. She had just walked into someone. A man to be precise, he was just a little taller than her, quite a bit wider, though she was pretty small compared to a lot of people. He looked pretty angry about her walking into him. In fact, he was so angry that he shoved her aside and cursed at her as he went on his way. She muttered to herself as he walked away.
"What an asshole..." That wasn't what she was thinking at all, she wanted to apologise for not paying attention! "Guys, like him should really get what's coming to them." That wasn't her either! Jane was no longer in control of herself it seemed, as she turned around slowly and started to walk in the same direction the stranger had walked off in. She didn't even want to go this way! Why was she doing it? She couldn't seem to make herself go the direction she wanted to.

After that, Jane couldn't recall much. There was...A man, the stranger, it was definitely him. His breath was ragged, and shallow. A plea, which fell upon deaf ears. A muffled scream. Panting, not like the stranger's though, it wasn't shallow. nor ragged. It was heavy, like you'd imagine a crazed animal's to be. There was crimson. Beautiful, breathtaking crimson. It was on her hands, on the walls. It was on a lot of things. She couldn't tell how long this went on for, but it felt like an eternity. Unlike an eternity however, this came to an end, and all of a sudden...

Jane couldn't see. She was certain her eyes were open, yet...
