When you go see your Doctor, ask if they have a behavioral specialist on staff. A Doctor will just give you different types of medication and hope one of them works (not all the time but most of the time). Ask for a behavioral specialist, they are somewhat like a therapist. He/she will talk to you at length before even attempting to put you on medication, at least that is from my experience. I've been through different doctor changes, it wasn't till I got a behavioral specialist that I felt like someone was going to listen to me, have an actual conversation, before giving me some medication. If you are really worried, go seek help. When I was 19 I got married and moved many states away from my family and friends, I was a little depressed. Then I got a blood infection, which led to A LOT of health issues and I had no one at that point (my husband gone on deployments). I went through many Doctors about my depression. My light depressive issues eventually turned into manic episodes, crippling anxiety and angry outbursts.
*Now I'm not saying this is going to happen to you, I've worked with nurses and dealt with Doctors for my job and then i was dealing with them for personal health reasons. So I'm not just pulling stuff outta my butt. You talk to your doctor, if this doctor starts handing you all sorts of drugs without listening to you or he/she tries to tell you this is how it is when it's not working out for you, that's a red flag, ask for a different doctor or a behavior specialist.
-It's your body, it's your mental health. If you aren't comfortable with the drugs you have been given or how your Doctor is treating you, get someone else (a specialist).-
Also, you are welcome to PM me
I used to work on a mental health ward as a Lead Aide, mostly Dementia/Alzheimer's Disease but we still got our other types of patients. Then dealing with my own mental health. I has the coping advice!
And that's my two cents
