Opinions on virtual reality?
« on: December 16, 2015, 11:49:28 PM »
What do you guys think about the "Future of gaming" ?

Do you think it will be more successful then consoles, do you think they will every make more affordable family type VR's ( kinda like current gen consoles) or do you think they will stay expensive and more fit towards hard core gamers (like the pc)
Thoughts are like arrows: once released, they strike their mark, guard them well or one day you may be your own victim.

I think that it will be a long time before it gets to the point of being able to have one in every household, at least for any good VR models.  I also don't think that it will be as popular overall because of stories like dot Hack and SAO where people get trapped in the game.  That won't stop a lot of people from being excited for it, though so once it gets to that level of quality it will definitely make money.

I doubt that VR will be the future of gaming.  Remember the motion control fiasco?  Yea, I believe it will have similar problems.  For starters, it may be too uneconomical for the typical person to buy.  And secondly, we don't even know how well it will work.  Also, I think most people are comfy with sitting on the couch with a controller.  Lets face it, if I want to game, I don't want to be jumping around or wearing any additional equipment.  I'd just want to sit down and have fun.

I agree with Silentium. I highly doubt that this will take off.

My own opinion is that if the trend does take off, I still wont be interested unless we get Sword Art Online level VR gear.

I think it'll be similar to the kinect.

Won't take off in the gaming market but will turn out to be really useful in like tons of other disciplines

True. They already try to use VR to help people cope with PTSD.  It's a treatment that various greatly in its effectiveness but they are doing research on it.
