Staying in character, acting, and personality in suit! tips?
« on: August 25, 2016, 07:54:54 PM »
I'm going on my first (real) outing this weekend, and I was wondering if anyone had any tips for keeping in character and emoting while in suit, stuff you wouldn't usually think of. Since my character is kind of more serious, I struggle with staying in character but also being exaggerated and exciting while in costume. Any tips?

(I did a mini outing that lasted about 10 minutes about a week ago. Number one lesson: children are NOT in my line of vision. Gotta look down for those.)

If it's not a furry-based event you're going to, you absolutely need, and I mean NEED, a spotter. Someone who looks out for you, someone who isn't scared of shooing people away when they're being a dick to you, etc.
Make sure that the person/people you go with know some hand signals you can give to them. Like when you're too warm, you wave your hands in front of your face to cool down.
Also make sure you have enough water to stay hydrated (with a straw, if you don't want to take off your head while you're suiting ^^).

And be careful of stairs/steps/poles/and indeed children x3
But if you have a spotter, all should be fine.
