Khaise's Story
« on: October 27, 2017, 12:56:11 AM »
Hi everyone my name is Khaise the Saber Tooth Tiger. Yeah, you may have noticed that I am an extinct animal and are probably wondering how I am... here... in this era of time.

Well this is my story and here you will find out how I came to be who am where i am now.

(A special mention to Voltra Husky, You were one of the first close friends i made in this fandom so of coarse you are part of this story!)

Part 1

The Necklace

It was still dark on the morning I left. The Pleistocene climate had left a layer of ice on my fur and some of it had melted in the night, dampening my undercoat and skin. It wasn’t uncomfortable, it was quite a pleasant and familiar feeling.

I carefully wrapped my linen wrappings around my hind legs and slipped my llama wool lined boots on my paws. I chose my warmest pants and threw on a leather vest over my shirt with a scarf. Finally, I draped my dark crimson cloak over my shoulders and tied the hood around my neck.
My pack waited for me on a hook in the main entrance to my cave.

I was ready.

I sat at the stone table in the living room and wrote a final goodbye letter to my pride. As I was about to sign my name I paused.

Khaori. Time-Child. The name my Mother gave me. It didn’t really fit me anymore. I pondered for a moment, hovering the pen over the brown stained paper. Khaori. I was not a child anymore.

My name is Khaise.

Time-Wanderer.

I didn’t look back until I stepped out into the open plains past my home forest. Looking at the trees I knew I would never see again brought a sadness that almost made me turn around. But I didn’t. Carefully I put one paw forward, then another, and then another. I was going to the great mountains and there was no stopping me.

The crunch of snow underfoot became the only unnatural sound I could hear as I pushed my way through the wind.

By nightfall the mountains appeared no closer then when I began. I could no longer see my old home, it had become a small black blur many hours ago before disappearing beyond the horizon.

I didn’t sleep well that night. Although I was used to the cold, I wasn’t used to sleeping out in the wind and hail.

My nights remained somewhat sleepless for many, many days.

When I finally faced the great mountain cliffs my shoes were worn. My food supply was almost gone and regret poisoned my mind.

Thankfully a puff of smoke led me to a tavern.

An elderly, dappled Miracinonyx greeted me with a meal and a place to stay. Her name was Drei. She was a kind and loving feline whom I wish I spend more time with.

She wished me farewell with enough food to feed a small army and gave me a necklace. The necklace was a simple chain with a black stone pendant shaped in a perfect oval.

Today, that necklace is lost. But its what changed my life.

The only way I could walk was over the mountains. Every step was colder and more dangerous then the last and I knew this was a bad idea. But bad ideas led me to a new life.

I awoke on a clear morning. The first one in many weeks and I felt the sun on my face. Trudging steadily down the mountain I was thankful for the warmth it provided. It was a normal day of hiking.

I didn’t see the drop.

I felt my feet slip on sudden steep ground and I plummeted down. It should have been the end.

But somehow I woke up.

I was in a forest. The air stunk of scents I had never smelt before and I could hear sounds that terrified me. There were hundreds of other animals around me. Without a thought I ran. My pack was gone but I didn’t care. Going down on all fours I bolted with all the speed I could muster, hurriedly looking for any sign of the mountains I was trying to conquer.

Nothing.

Suddenly I hit the ground. I screamed as an unbelievable pain erupted from my right back leg and I collapsed.

I stopped struggling as I felt something press against my head.

“Stand up slowly.” Came a male voice.

“I can’t” I spurted and yelped as two strong arms lifted me off the ground and dangled me in the air. I was faced with the strangest animal I had ever seen. He was pure white with black tipped ears and some sort of see through protection covering his eyes. He looked like a Dire Wolf but he couldn’t have been, Dires didn’t come in those colours.

“Who are you?” He asked in a gruff tone holding a shiny object to my chest. His piercing aqua eyes bore into mine and I was momentarily speechless.

“I… I... I mean my name is, uh, Khaise.” I said. He raised an eyebrow.

“What the heck is that accent? Actually no, lets figure out what you are first.” He interrupted himself walking around the two figures that held me in the air.

“Isn’t it obvious?” I groaned as my right leg suddenly exploded in pain.

“Hmmm…” He said lifting up my head by pinching one of my fangs. “I know what you look like… But you can’t be.” He turned and waved his paw. I was dropped to the ground with a thud and knelt in the snow, two large objects were clamped around my wrists and I was jerked up to my feet.

“Oi! Watch it!” I yelped, struggling to keep balance. “I’m hurt! Are you blind?” The Canine thing turned to look at me inquisitively. His eyes seemed curious and ever so slightly confused.

“You aren’t from around here are you?” He questioned. I shook me head.

“I’m from the Jaokimulfur Pride from beyond the mountains.” I said.

“The what?” He scoffed.

“The Jaok-“

“Yeah I heard you.” He interrupted. “I just don’t know what that is.” I pulled against the clamps on my wrists as he ran a paw through his fringe.

“Can you let me go!?” I asked hurriedly as I winced once more at the pain in my leg. He stared at me. Pausing to look me up and down and he remained in silence for an awkward amount of time.

“Well?” Came the voice of the other member of the three animals. “What do you want us to do Voltra?” The Canine turned away and looked over his shoulder.

“Take the cuffs off.” He said, “Carry her and we’ll talk to Vex when we get back to base.”
