My friend has an issue that I need help with
« on: July 19, 2017, 07:53:37 AM »
Hello, Issac here, I have a friend named Evan, he's an online friend, don't know him in real life, but I like hanging out with him.

We roleplay while playing games to make it more immersive and entertaining, and it does, hes also funny and I like to play with him in general.

One thing is though, he gets mad EXTREMELY easily, so easily to the point where it has become a serious issue, he may have anger problems, for example, say we play a multiplayer game, and we lose one match, he starts yelling and blaming the game for his losses even though it's his own fault, or if he lags out once he'll just hang up on me and won't play the game for the next few hours.

Also, say he loses in a comedic manner, like his character model spazzez out when he dies and it looks funny, I'll laugh at it, then he'll tell me to shut up while I hear him breaking things in the background out of anger.

Every time I tell him to calm down and relax he gets even angrier and fails to see that it's only a game, it's very frustrating, do you guys have any tips to help me calm him down? He won't listen to me.
"I am a God,  I have destroyed planets, solar systems, even galaxies, my immense power grows from my will to protect those who need protecting, my name is Lord Isscarus, and this is my faithful wife, Axamia, nice to meet you.

First and foremost, you can never change someone if they have no interest in changing.

If you can get your friend to acknowledge that his anger is a problem, then you can work with it. Gentle reminders to watch his reactions (preferably BEFORE he's fully blown up), reassuring him, and making a note of it when you notice improvements in his behavior will help along the way.

You can also just tell him that you won't play with him anymore unless he stops reacting that way. If playing with you is important to him, it could motivate him to change.

I'm no psychologist, but usually when you record people's "in-rage" behaviour, and show it to them afterwards, they'll see their behaviour from a calm and clear perspective and realise it's actually kinda unneccecary/embarassing/rude... (Circle applicable)

If you're having trouble with helping solve this situation you might want to consider trying this.

Be shure you only show the recording to him. Don't put it on the internet, or anything. People laughing about other people's rages usually make them only more angry.

I hope that'd help!
