How do pants work with tails?
« on: January 07, 2018, 01:36:27 PM »
This is very likely an old idea, but I haven't seen a discussion about this here. I was thinking about how in furry comics, the solution for tails and pants are often hidden away by tops or angle. So I was curious as to how your sonas tackle this daily issue. Obviously this is a poll for those who actually wear pants, so please don't come here and comment "My sona doesn't wear pants" ;)

Well, if i'd ever be bothered to draw my sona with pants the pants probably wrap around the tail some. Would take some extra work getting into, of course.
There'd probably be some elastic involved to make it easier. If this all makes sense?

That seems like to most logical solution to me. The least exposing way, anyway.

It totally depends on the species/body type of the character. For thin tails, you can just pull 'em up just under your tail, but for a thick/bushy tail, "Slit to accommodate the tail, button above tail to tighten the waistband" sounds best to me. Unless you want risk of your pants falling down a lot. :P

It would depend on the character, really. Zila prefers a hole for her tail, while an other upcoming character would just prefer to have the waistband just below his tail base. As for Michen, they never wear pants since they're a feral.

Juliet likes to cut holes in all her bottoms but her shirts and sweaters are long so they cover that bit up anyway.

I always thought a slit would work best, mainly because there are so many different tails that the slit would be the best way to accommodate for all shapes and sizes!

I would do a slot with velcro instead of a button.. tail is too fluffy, hard to get through a hole without mussing the fur, and buttons are a PITA!

But, yeah, Feral, so no pants anyway..  lol

I prefer my sona have a slit or big hole in the back to accommodate his big tail.

Is robe like pants? I guess kinda.
Either way, I'd assume hole or slit. Hole would be better for higher pants, but it also has the downside of restricting movement.
Everyone seems to have it, so here's mine

I said "Other" because I feel that, like us, pants can vary for furries as well.  Some might prefer a strap over a slit to accommodate the tail, while others could very well just enjoy the "Tail Hole" idea.  That, and maybe it could vary from species to species.  For instance, a canine or a fox may prefer the strap since they have long tails, while lagomorphs, mice, and such could easily fit their tails through a hole, since their tails are mostly small, thin, and generally easy to slip through.
A human among the anthropomorphic folks, adopted into a family of lions.  A minority to the public, but hey, these hands can work wonders in a world where everyone else has paws and claws, at least.

I've never really thought of it before, but I would probably say Spart wears pants (jeans mostly) with the hole just below the waistband.  Of course though he despises the fact he has to wear pants because he thinks it's uncomfortable and that he gets limited freedom (mice have interesting legs).
