Fur heads and eyes
« on: September 04, 2020, 02:11:32 AM »
Hi,
New Here . I have a few questions about fur heads and Eyes.

When building a head do you prefer just building up the head with sheet foam or using a formed head like resin hollow cast or Vacuum form?

Is there a standard size head or do you just make it up as you go?

In a formed shell head how much room do you like to have between you and the shell, Top ,Bottom front, and back?

Is there a eye size that would be call general sizes. I see that there are in some shops (Etsy etc.) small , med and large But they never say what those sizes are.

I understand that the eye shape is kind of depending on the animal / character.

I am trying to understand these thing before I start making anything.

Thanks for any help.

Ok, while I am waiting on some one to chime in . Here is a test head I am working on of a Macaw. It is going to be 14 inches from the beak to the back of the head. What you are seeing in the photo is a vacuum form molds to make hollow plastic shell to build on top of.
Let me know what you think.
