I've always loved LotR. It's got a great backstory, awesome action, and a very immersive quality. Favorite would probably be Return of the King. Any opinions?

huge fan, favourite one is definitely return of the king, im recommending the extended edition of ROTK, it gives you like an hour extra and answers a lot of the small questions left unanswered in the normal one (who talks for sauron? where did gandalf's staff go in the battle at the black gate?)

I love Lord of the Rings as well, my second favorite movie series after Aliens. I really like the first one, it had an adventure feeling in it the others didnt really have and the battles where more personal. I also think the battle at helms deep was better then the one at Minas Tirith. The one At minas Tirith was too big to really get a emotional feel for the soldiers and since half of the main characters werent even there till need the end of it, it just didnt feel the same.

I own all three, what do you think?  :P

My favourite is probably RotK too. It's been a long time since I've seen the first one though... *considers watching it now*

I liked it, though I do have to say, they make the second book a lot more interesting in the movie and they leave a lot out of the first movie.

Well, LotR is a gargantuan book, bursting at the seams with story. Even making all three movies 3 hours long isn't enough to cut it.
