There are no rules regarding what furries do when raising a child. It just depends on the people.

I would think that they would raise the child like any other parents.

^ how so?

I think that the child would grow up around alot of pets and problably learn to appreciate animals, what you would expect i guess, and they would problably grow up to be very social too.

I mean, they wouldn't dress the child up in a fursuit aghanst his/her will, or do anything... IDK bad to them just because they're hardcore furry, but like automatic said, I think that they would be around pets a lot and the parents would teach the child about the importance of keeping the Earth clean and teach them to be open to many diffrent types of people/lifestyles etc. So all in all, they may be a better person because of that.

Or, on the flipside, they do end up messing the child's social interactions up. Eventually the child's going to have to come to terms with the fact that being outright furry is not socially acceptable in a lot of societies.

And we have a tendency to associate Furries with tolerance and good ideas, but in all reality, I think there are close-minded and ignorant furries just as there are smart and social furries. Just like all other people.

As for being more social as a furry, I'm a living testament against that. I'm incredibly antisocial. In fact, I believe that a lot of furries aren't incredibly social outside of furry communities (and still open about being furry), because it can be downright fearful to be open about your furness to others who aren't furries.

So all in all, it just comes to the parent's decisions. Just like having two parents that are gay, the child may accept their lifestyle, or may not. He may rebel, he may conform. What the child learns is no different from what other children learn in the home. As for an analogy, you're changing the classroom and the teacher, but it's still the same subject and curriculum.

Hmm... Hadn't thought about it like that Nikolai... But it is pretty hard to be closed-minded when your a furry and you know how it feels to have prejudice against you... Unless you have NO contact with anyone that isn't furry, or is just a hypocrite. But yea, I could be called sort of anti-social... And the child may get made fun of for having furry parents

I'm certain it's hard to find a close-minded furry. But it's not impossible, if anything humanity teaches us, it's that we have no limit to our stupidity.

you're assuming that isnt possible in the midst of non-furry parents? because i can tell you right now, parents dont need to be furry to do all the things mentioned in your post.. in fact, some things were completely unrelated to furries (like keeping the earth clean, thats something most parents teach their children)

personally, i dont think kids of furries would grow up a whole lot differently than other people's. i mean, there's more parents with a distinct lifestyle like punk or gothic or whatever, it doesnt really change their kid a whole lot, except for the obvious influences like picking up life-style related things.

Ok, ok. But the part about getting picked on would be more likley, right? There's too many variables that would change the outcome, so it could go any way, you know?

I WISH my parents were furries.  I would've found out about this place a long time ago.
My mum is... Well... How do I put this...
I dunno.
She doesn't like the whole "furry" thing, I think.
She doesn't talk to me about furries.
I don't talk to her about furries.

But EVERYONE in my grade knows I'm furry.
And blame my friend.
He only knows about idiot furries.
Not about furries like us.

And for the record, I'm ambiverted.

I believe, with the people i grew up, the  child would be as normal as any other child. The parents of course would have to sit down and tell in detail exactly what they are and never hide anything from him, since of course they don't see themselves as humans. There would need to be a lot of trust and honesty though..and marriage i find that a little weird but i guess it could be called normal
