Fenrir Anthology

Not about me obviously. I'm not THAT self centered.  I've always loved stories that were created to shed light on really ancient stories or mythologies.  I thought it would be cool to follow Fenrir through his life and give him a greater sense of depth than just a big powerful wolf.  (If you don't know who Fenrir is, he's a character of Norse mythology.  Wiki is your friend!)

hm... I am intrigued. Explain more, please.

Fenrir is said to be one of Loki's children (How that was possible, i'll never know), and he was either causing problems, or was a threat to Odin, but w/e the reason, the dwarves made a special leash made out of items that are realisitically impossible to achieve, and they got Fenrir onto a small island, where a god sacrificed his hand (Fenrir was trying to tear it off) so that Odin could bind Fenrir to a post on the island. once Fenrir was tied down, he tried to break free, but found it impossible to break the leash as it got tighter with each tug. So until Ragnarok occours, Fenrir will always remain on that island, desperatly trying to break the leash.

If I miss anything, please correct me

Ah. Sounds like an interesting tale. Does anyone know if there's a published version of it somewhere?

Getting in to a little more detail, I'd like to tell a story from Fenrir's point of view.  Instead of him being some sort of destructive wolf monster I would attempt to cast him as sort of heroic.  It would follow the basic story told by the myth but with elaboration on certain things that weren't, which would better explain his motivation.  Maybe he served the Gods for a time, and was eventually told to do something so destructive or wrong that he turned against them?  It's the kind of thing that you could picture a Norse God doing.

Don't know really.  Whenever I have a story idea it constantly loops around in my head until I come up with something like a line of dialogue I want the story's main character to say.  Then I'll just start writing.  But I've never finished a story I've started...
