My good computer is back
« on: September 27, 2009, 01:01:45 AM »
but not whole. Part is missing, the part that makes it a MEDIA computer! I waited 3 weeks to get it back, found out some parts came loose that's why it didn't work.

I brought it in to Best Buy 3 weeks ago, went to the Geek Squad cause they said they'd ship it for free. Well I guess I'm a moron, least that's how they treated me. I told the guy there, my computer doesn't turn on, I think something might have been fried. He hits the on button, takes out the battery, holds the power button again, puts the battery back in plugs it in, hits the power again. Then turns to me and says "It doesn't turn on." UMM DUHHHHHH! My expression was that of WTF dumb (censored) I didn't already know that.

SO it got sent out. 3 weeks later (Today) I get it back, they call me at 10am. Lovely. Then again when I'm in the store at the desk. Umm oookkkk. So I get my computer, turns out some parts came loose. I get home open it up and notice the media part that lights up at the top of my keyboard. It has the volume control, media control for a player and an internet button. It's gone. I head back to Best Buy to the geek squad. This is how it went.
Yes he has this high and mighty attitude cause ya know he's a geek and all and I'm just a lowly stupid girl.
Geek: Hello...
Me: Hi, I'm back. Um somethings missing on my computer
Geek: Okay...
Me: This is whats missing (blah show him blah)
Geek: Is that a problem?
Me: Umm YEA
Geek: Well there's nothing we can do, I can send it out.
Me: Um that will take another 3 weeks just to get this part. Can't you just have the part shipped then put it in?
Geek: No we don't do that here...

What my response wanted to be... (I'll be censoring lots of it, cause I was so pissed, still am)
SO WHAT GOOD ARE YOU THEN YOU *BEEPING* MIDGET?! WHEN I SEND MY STUPID COMPUTER OUT FOR REPAIRS I EXPECT TO GET MY COMPUTER BACK! NOT MOST OF IT WITH PARTS MISSING! I PAID FOR A MEDIA COMPUTER CAUSE IT WAS THE BETTER ONE, AND YOU GIVE ME BACK THIS ONE?! WTMF! AND DON'T TREAT ME LIKE I'M A MORON, I DO KNOW WHAT MY COMPUTER LOOKS LIKE AND DOES, AND YES THAT IS A *BEEP* PROBLEM! SO GUESS WHAT YOU CAN TAKE YOUR LITTLE MIDGET HEAD OUT OF YOUR *BEEP* TREAT ME LIKE A HUMAN THEN GO *BEEP* YOURSELF, CAUSE YOU KNOW NOTHING! AND YOUR CUSTOMER SKILLS ARE *BEEP*

What I really said...
Okay thank you anyway... Then I walked out. urrr. All I need to do is wait for the warrienty to go up then I can go to the computer guy in the Anime store. He knows what he's doing, and wont charge you if he can't fix it. I like him. He's useful, and nice.

Ahhh feel better now  :), hope my censoring is okay.

Wow...sounds like somebody I'd want to punch in the face...
But I would've done the same thing, just extremely sugar-coated what my response was instead of saying what I really was thinking.
I am happy for you that you got it back, but it sucks that they're morons who don't really know everything about what they're doing.
It's like, "You don't do that here...? Then WTH good are you or this part of the store when you can't really do anything!"

And yes, you didn't partially censor or anything so it's fine.

I had a similar experience a few years ago with this web based computer company called Micro Direct. (They're super cheap, and it's only afterwards that I find out why.) I got my computer parts, built it, and it worked ok, but slowly became more and more sluggish and started to die slowly. It was several months before it stopped completely. Thankfully, I had my sister's computer to test which parts worked and which didnt, isolating the motherboard as the culprit (I eventually found out that it didnt get on with the RAM. They still dont like eachother but I've found an amicable solution, as long as I don't make the RAM demand too much.) So I send the motherboard out to them and they say they will fix it for me, and if not then they will send a replacement.

A month goes by.

With no word from them, I decide to call them up. A guy answers the phone, checks his computer and says that they're "apparently," waiting for a replacement to arrive.

A week later and I call them again. Same guy answers and says that they've lost track of it and that someone who is more involved with the situation, like his supervisor, would know. I ask him where his supervisor is and he says he's on holiday...
I ask him to get anyone else in charge.

It turns out that he's the only guy there! Just think about that for a second. The company I have entrusted my most high tech of tech to, has one employee present and he hasn't a clue what's going on. No wonder the prices are cheap, they dont have to pay many wages. And why is everyone on holiday with no replacement? No help for this one remaining dude? I dont lay into this guy cus it's obvious he just works there and has no real explanation for the stupidity of his employers. Plus being the only person there has to be a lot of pressure from all the people complaining to him about their faulty goods... and they sell some FAULTY goods. A month later the monitor got a huge pink strip on the side. I sent it back, got it replaced; after a month the replacement got a big pink strip down the side.

I dont buy from them anymore.
"Parents always think kids are wasting their youth, and always have done [so] down through the millennia," says Tom Forsyth of RAD Game Tools. "'That Ug, always holding things. His front paws will develop in funny ways. Why can't he walk on all fours like normal proto-hominids?' And so, whatever the kids spend the most time doing, that's always what parents think is a waste of time, and what is corrupting their lives. It doesn't matter what that is. If all they did was homework, parents would be worrying that their kids aren't becoming well-rounded people. And, in fact, parents do this - enrolling math nerds in karate classes and the like. There is no way to win - parental paranoia ensures that kids are always doing the wrong thing."

I buy most of my stuff from MicroDirect and have never had a problem.

The problem with these so called "geeks" is they have a step-to-step to fix the issues, they aren't actually that clever when it comes to it.

Unfortunately that results in people like me helping people out because these so-called experts are stupidly overpriced. Fun!
