Ooookay the last two are more at school projects so this weekend I'm going to try and make a speedpaint video for you guys! :D *crosses fingers* here's hoping my CamStudio works, I've always wanted to make a speedpaint vid.

Post Merge: May 15, 2011, 12:17:18 PM
Okay. The first part of my speedpaint, the skin, eyes, hair. The second part, the clothes and effects, will come next. Again, not my lineart. But that does NOT mean it didn't take a lot of effort. I spent hours coloring it and hours trying to upload it. In fact, this is the reason I'm not sleeping right now. Please watch, pretty pwease? *puppy eyes*  Would mean a lot after so much effort in coloring and recording and uploading.

Good choice of music  ^_^  Techno ftw

Anyhow, great work. I enjoy watching videos that show how a person has coloured/drawn lineart  :P   And I know how colouring alone takes a lot of time and effort, so far it looks great Katie!  :3

Am waiting expectantly for the next part!  ^_^

New arting.....I might color this. I didn't draw it very well, but it turned out cute I guess. I may color it.

Can i just ask how you drew the lineart?  :?    I'm still having trouble getting my lineart to look how I want it to, and any tips would be great  ^_^

Oh, and the piece itself is really good, emotive, cute n' all that  :3

HA I SUCK at lineart. I'm the one always asking good lineartists how they get their work to look so good, usually digitally, with a tablet, nice lines that I just can't replicate.

I actually used a ballpoint pen. Serious. Make a copy of the sketch, trace the lines, go over back and forth where you want to be thicker, just a few strokes for the thinest lines, etc. Then scan it in, and I use Manga Studio settings to pick up only the black lines. But I'm sure you can use another program to pick up only the black lines for uploading and coloring.

But yeah. Don't ask me...there are way more people better at lines than me. I have to use a ballpoint/fineliner cause I suck so much at digital ink. And even my ballpoint/fineliner lines suck monkey. xD

XP   I normally just use a fineliner too!  :P

Your lineart just looked cleaner than I manage to get my lineart so I was wondering if you'd done it digitally... Ah well, looks like we are in the same boat after all  :3

I'm trying to learn how to do my lineart digitally, but because of the program I'm having to use (Corel Paintshop pro) all the tutorials and stuff for how to draw lineart in photoshop dont help  :/

I know right! My lines always end up so boring and straight even when working big and having pressure settings. I still have no clue how to replicate the nice pointed and curved lines most lineartists get.

However, if you need a quick fix, again I point you to manga studio...it has an immense variety of pencils and pens, it looks like pencil when using the pencil and the lines actually taper and curve when you use the pens if you set it up right. If you are able to draw with a tablet or at least trace with a tablet, and you don't feel like figuring out how to get nice looking pen lines in Sai or Painter or PS, then Manga Studio is great. So many pens, and they draw and look just like pens!

The main problem at the moment is that I cant afford to buy a better art program. But Manga Studio looks pretty good, and not too expensive... Thanks for that Katie  ^_^  When I get the money/time I may give that a try  :P
