I would have pressed Button A as well, because Button B leads to no chance of any change.

You can choose to pick up the nearest weapon and take your chances against them all at once or you can run out the back window, knowing they will find you and take care of you out back. I'm pretty sure I would try to escape by trying to hide somewhere particularly difficult to get to, if possible, with the aforementioned weapon >:3

You are the CEO of a Fortune 500 company and have been given a set of 3 options prepared by your CFO, you must choose one of the three plans. You must explain why you chose the plan that you picked.

Plan A: The company is going to relocate to Taiwan, all employees must be dismissed slowly over the course of the next 6 months by the HR department, layoffs will be labeled as "cutting back" until only a few staff remain at the company, then the company will announce a transition to Taiwan to keep the stock high and the lawsuits minimal. You will get a multi-million dollar compensation package for your efforts and will transfer out of the company before the company is completely relocated.

Plan B: The company will remain with its corporate headquarters in the United States, but all production will be moved to Taiwan. You must layoff all of the production employees over the course of the next 6 months through the HR department while saying to the public that "there are no plans to move the company out of the country". The production employees will have their retirement accounts and pensions severely diminished, but every employee will get a recommendation elsewhere. The age 40 and older employees will not find another production job, which are over 60% of the production staff. You will receive a compensation bonus and raise for your public perspective duality.

Plan C: The company will stay in the United States, both the production and corporate headquarters will stay as they are now, stock value will slowly diminish over time and employees will continue to be content. You will be terminated by the end of the year, another CEO will be put in your place and will change the course of the company over the next 12 months after your departure. You will never be able to find a career ever again in corporate culture and you will be completely unprotected from any lawsuits the company may face where you are considered at fault for any previous misgivings from the company to legal and community obligations.

The thing that makes it difficult to choose is not knowing why we're forced to make the decision at this time. Assuming the company is about to go under unless you make one of these choices, the employees will lose their jobs anyway no matter what you do. Plan C is just delaying the inevitable.

Plan B seems like a good compromise with helping the employees get another job with recommendations, such is important to consider because they are the people who helped get you to where you are today. There will still be some losses, but I'd be taking it upon myself to take part of that loss too by exchanging a multi-million dollar deal with a smaller compensation. But I'd know that money would instead be used to help secure the future of my employees.

Plan A is the most efficient for you. Your employees would deal with it because they have no other choice, and people deal with stuff like that all the time. No matter what, the company is clearly headed to Taiwan, and at least you could make bank from it. Since you're getting HR to lay off the employees, you don't have to face the consequences of your actions directly.

Personally, I'm inclined to go with B. As someone who has had to fire people and see the pain it causes in their face, even when I know I'm doing what I have to do, I'm not sure I could live with myself if I didn't take that into account. People are important. You should respect that your employees have given a portion of their life to you. At the end of the day, you gotta do what you gotta do to keep the company running, but I don't think you should be unempathetic about it just because you can. I'm not a big fan of the part about lying that we wouldn't be moving to Taiwan though.

Yes, Plan A and B are about the same in the casualties, Plan B however upon the "leaving the United States" public statement you are not "lying" because the corporate headquarters are not leaving the United States, which is how you get away with saying that! The most moral choice in this set of plans is what you can do when you choose Plan C. You can pick Plan C and immediately resign to avoid destroying your career and you won't be the person that laid off all of those employees, you can also say that as soon as you were aware of the choice to be made, you wanted no part in it. You can have your CFO replace you as a "plan" playing it all off as an administrative decision. Since you only momentarily lowered the stock value of the company, the effect upon your career will be diminished.

Eh that still seems like delaying the inevitable to me, because the next CFO would be faced with the same issues. Just seems like a way of weaseling out of it to me. Assuming you've been CFO for a while, it's partly up to you that you're facing this decision in the first place, so I don't think it's right to not face the consequences.

Okay!

You have to decide which person dies (Assume that the persons involved cannot make decisions due to being incapacitated):

Option 1: There is a mother in labor, due to an unexpected health issue, the mother may die if the baby is born, but the baby will be saved. The mother is due to pass away in less than 5 years.

Option 2: The baby has a severe brain injury and will be incapable of independent thought and taking care of itself when it becomes older. If the baby is not saved, the mother will survive.
