At the holding cell, someone knocked on the door.
"Hey, soldier-folk, you there?" whispered a voice on the other side. "It's Max, the pilot from the Admiration. Tina sent me. She needs your help."

On Serra Draconis, Asia and Howl ran to their quarters, grabbing their guns before leaping from the ship, shooting down the triffid and running to the nearest elevator. Tabby scrambled out close behind, lugging her sniper rifle with her, grinning at all the excitement.  Howl pressed the elevator button, and a huge thud echoed through the building. The doors opened to a space with elevator cables wrapped in triffid vines.
"Looks like we're taking the stairs," said Asia, as he led the group to the stairwell, shooting down two triffids as the ran down. Up above them, the drop ship engines could be heard, hovering at the dock as the soldiers poured out, before heading back up to the GA Demolition. Footsteps echoed around the group, as the soldiers searched the docking area.
"We have to move fast," said Howl. "They're right behind us." Tabby laughed before pulling out her pistol and emptying a clip into a triffid that blocked the door to the lower floor. Asia moved forward and pushed the dead triffid aside, opening the door to the surrounding hallway around the main chamber. windows covered the inner wall, but in their way, were hundreds of triffids.

Up on the GA Demolition, Afgha Kali ran clung to the hangar ceiling, watching the drop-ship return. He scuttled along the top, like an insect passing over the crewmen and craft. Once the drop-ship was inside, the gargantuan hangar door began to close down from the ceiling, protecting against outer attack.  Afgha mumbled incoherently, shaking his head viciously, throwing thoughts around before dropping from the ceiling and hitting the floor at an ungodly run. His powerful legs enhanced by the suit shot across the carrier floor, like a blur beneath the hangar door, climbing to the underside of the ship. His eyes darted over the planet, zooming in to find the main science facility. On board computers calculated the angle to jump and land on the building. He transferred energy to his legs and with a mighty kick, he rocketed down to the surface, leaving a dent in the Demolition's hull.

On the bridge of the Demolition, messages about a rabbit in a supersuit came thick and fast from the hangar. The lieutenant gripping his forehead in frustration, before getting back on the comms.
"Sir, what is going on? Where are you?!" There was no reply.

Kate nocked quietly back, leaning close to the cell door...
"Thats Marine folk to you, sir.... And if you can open the door we'l help however we can...."
The other marines crowded around the side of the doorway, the prospect of escape seemed like a good one... Kitt and Annie both moved up beside the doorway next to Kate... "Kate, sir.. how'd we know it really is Max?"
He was stopped when Annie elbowed him in the lower ribs.. "Shuttup Kitt, we owe them...."
Kate frowned at the two, bickering that they where, pushing them carefully but firmly to the side of the door....

"Alrighty then, Marine-folk," said Max. "These here doors ain't nothin' to me." There was a soft clanging, and scraping accompanied by Max making little noises, grunts and mumbles to himself, until a huge THUNK shuddered through the door. Slowly, the door moved as Max pulled it open; smiling and panting at the jailbreaking marines. "Thanks in advance, you boys and girls are the best." His voice was hushed to a conspiratorial whisper. "Now basically, Tina's gonna go free the captain and her mate. She needs us to help her by taking out the guards. The place is the highest security so it's gonna be dangerous. It's just up this corridor to the left, so come on, follow me." He turned away and started walking.
A few steps in, there was a flash of light. Max fell to ground and screamed in pain clutching an energy burn in his chest. The large guard stepped forward, and aimed his gun at Kate.
"Looks like I've been lied to." He pulled the trigger.

On Serra Draconis, triffids whipped out vines grabbing Asia. Howl quickly fired off a few rounds, felling the plants at the front, while Tabby aimed her rifle, planted her feet and took a shot. The sound blasted up the stairs as the bullet tore through a line of triffid, taking out ten or so. Ten more took their place.
"Korius, we could use some help here!" said Asia, as he pushed the dead vines off of him.
Up above them, the soldiers heard the gunfire and kicked the stairwell door in, running down to Korius, guns raised.
"Drop your weapons!" they yelled.

Korius merely smirked as his killer side resurfaced for the first time since he partied with this bunch. In a flash, Korius weaved towards the soldiers and drew his vibro-blade as he reached them, cutting the lot of them up. "Hahahaha!!! Is that all you've got? Come one! My grandmother puts up more of a fight, and she's dead!" He threw a grenade behind him, past Howl and Tabby and it landed onto the head of the Triffid that Asia was unwrapping himself from. Korius charged and tackled through the group of soldiers coming out through the door. He quickly jumped up, dodging and weaving and using the walls to launch himself at the soldiers, killing them one by one with his sword. After killing the last one in the area, he got up in the pool of blood and examined himself. There were some shots that nicked many parts of his coat and the bottom of it was hashed. Korius' blood boiled at the sight and took it off as more soldiers came rushing in from all doors except the one he came in. "That... was... a Trillian... hand-made... designer Special!!!!" Korius picked up a dead body next to him and flung it at the furthest incoming soldiers and charged the closest ones, now enraged.

"Hey, no problem Max... We're the marine core!"The return "Hoorah!" was a lot quieter and hushed as the marines started to jog along behind Max. With the bright flash of light and a scream of pain they dropped to the floor, hugging the walls for cover, that was except for Kate.... Having been right behind Max, there was no way the guard could miss... even as he squeezed the trigger, she reached for the concealed pistol, drew the  weapon... and fired in one last, desperate attempt...

"Well I guess that's helping of a sort," said Asia as he continued to struggle with the vines, before watching the grenade fly into the Triffid right in front of him. "You'll kill us all!" Asia tried to scramble away, as Howl shot the vines apart, and running with tabby beneath the stairs. They threw themselves into the corner as the grenade exploded, taking down the Triffids in sight. Tabby ran into the corridor to check for any more plants while Asia writhed in pain under the stairs.
"Are you hurt?" asked Howl.
"Nope, just slammed myself against the everflame box." Howl pulled Asia up and helped him run through, finding the door to the chamber. They pulled at the door finding it locked. Tabby hitched her rifle on her back and looked around, finding white computer consoles, covered in multicoloured buttons beside the door.
"Hey, look at this, man. I seen that somewhere," she said.
"How?" Asia looked at her, eyebrows raised.
"Let me try somethin'" She pulled a few switch, and pressed one of the larger green buttons. The door opened.

The chamber was enormous. A space surrounded by smooth walls, reaching down hundreds of metres into the complex, filled mostly with the impressive machinery at its centre. A large smooth block of white casing covered endless machinery and electronics. A catwalk reached out, over the endless drop, to the user interface. It was a small specimen recepticle with a laptop beside it. Cables connected to circuitboards were strewn around it from modifications made by the scientists. Asia stepped into the chamber, opened the energy dampening box, releasing the everflame, filling him with irrepressible joy. He held it to his chest and smiled before turning to the machine and running to interface. Half way there, a ceiling panel fell, clanging against the catwalk and falling into the abyss. Right after it, Afgha Kali, in full military enhancement suit, jumped down, landing on the catwalk.

Asia stopped, still with a smile, his eyes darted around, looking for a way past.
"Asia, put it down," said the commodore, his brother. Asia stopped looking around, and his smile grew.
"Afgha? is that you under all that?"
"Asia, put it down, I'll keep it safe, out of reach of everyone." Afgha stepped forward, reaching a hand out to the everflame.
"Afgha, what's wrong?" Asia replied, stepping back, holding the everflame to his chest.
"It's not ours!"
"Asia, get down!" Howl yelled, aiming his gun at the commodore. Asia dropped to the ground, and the wolf fired straight at Afgha's helmeted head. The energy blast slammed against the Commodore, knocking his head to the side, but he did not fall. Afgha leapt over Asia, high in the air as Howl fired full automatic at the enemy as he dropped down on Howl, crushing him to the catwalk. Afgha picked him up and threw him over the edge.  While this happened, Asia got up, and ran to the console, while Tabby planted her feet and aimed her sniper rifle. In lightning speed, Afgha darted to her, pushing the gun away as it fired, piercing through the ceiling. Asia pushed the everflame into the recepticle and reached into his pocket, pulling out a scrap of paper covered in codes. As he typed them into the laptop, Afgha grabbed Tabby by the throat. He looked back across the catwalk, seeing his brother.
"Asia, stop!" He turned and hurled Tabby across the catwalk, slamming her into Asia. They crumpled into a heap. Tabby crawled forward and heaved a cough.
"Korius, help!" she yelled, as she stood to her feet, between Asia and Afgha.

Howl fell, dropping into the darkening depths of the chamber, watching the fight up above shrink to dots. In the darkness, voices called out to him. Screams, songs, lullabies. He heard the Seeker.
"The connection is here. Welcome Howl. Welcome to the spirits." He closed his eyes and landed against the steel floor of the chamber, all breath and heartbeats forced out, leaving only a corpse.

On the GA Demolition, Kate's shot pierced the guard ribs, and he fell to the floor. He grunted in pain and crawled to the wall, resting against it, keeping his eyes on the marines. Max continued to writhe on the ground, breathing hard between screams. The guard lifted his gun, wobbling in his left hand.
"Get back to your cells. It's better for all of us!" His right hand reached for his helmet, turning on the comms.
"Security, there's an escape... attempt. Bring medics... three..." His breathing became harsh, and he a cough scraped along his throat. Blood spurted inside his helmet. Letting go of comms, he pulled it off, letting him breath, showing his blood covered human face.

Korius stood over the bodies of all the soldiers, in the pool of blood. He snapped out of his rage as he heard Tabby's voice echo to him through the wall. Korius quickly looked at the one corner that the voice rang from and saw one of the dead soldiers against the corner had grenades at the front of his uniform. He pulled out his M500 and shot one of the grenades, blowing a hole into the wall. Beyond, was a ledge just over where Tabby was. Korius jumped down and landed between Tabby and Afgha, separating them with a strong punch to Afgha's gut, sending him flying back 2 meters.

Kate held the pistol straight, aim not wavering an inch from the humans head.... her finger tensed on the trigger, the human soughed and spluttered, blood trickling from his mouth.... "You've got a ruptured lung.... you wont last five minutes...."
With that she kicked the gun from his hand, and fired off three shots into the helmets comm system... "Lets see how much fate loves you shall we?"
With that she turned and ran back to the group, several marines had tried to pin down Max and calm him down... they all knew it was pointless...
"Kate, why didn't ya kill the frackin' bastard!?"
Kate shoved Kitt out of the way as she knelt beside Max...
"I don't kill if i don't have too... I'd rather die with a clean conscious if i can help it soldier........ max, max can you hear me?"

Afgha stumbled back, but kept on his feet. He shook his head back and forth, throwing thoughts out of his mind.
"This has nothing to do with you!" he said as his body started to shudder. "You all need to leave!" He charged forward at a violent blurring speed, leaping to tackle korius to the ground. Behind them, at the laptop, Asia clambered to his feet, keeping the paper tightly in his grip. He got back to typing the codes. Tabby hung to the railing, holding her stomach in pain.

Meanwhile, the guard felt the blood filling his mouth and throat. It dribbled out, down his chin and onto his chest. He coughed more, trying to breathe, feeling his senses disappear. Along the corridor, Max stared up at the marines.
"Help Tina! Gotta help..." His yells quietened, he needed to breathe. His chest was heaving as he gripped Kitt's arm looking him in the eye, begging him. Inhaling quickened to short bursts. Each heave harder than the last. The time between breaths slowed. He stared up at the Kitt,

and stopped.

With the same amount of speed, Korius returned the charge and knocked Afgha back again, since Korius had a bigger body mass. "Sorry, but I'm not about to let you ruin everything that we've worked for on this mission. I've already taken my stand. If it's not satisfactory, I'll kill Asia myself. But until then, he's my comrade for the moment." With the speed to rival, Korius charged into a rotation kick, bringing it down a power-heel-drop.

Max's chest finally fell still, Kitt stared back into his still open eyes... and softly closed them with one paw....
"C'mon, you heard what he said.... we gotta help Tina! Kitt... get your tail up and moving!"
The marines took several tentative steps back the way they where going. Kate gave the nearest marine a brief and rough shove... "Move forgodsake! You heard that guard, security's coming and times fracking running out!"

Afgha ducked lower than should be possible, and with intense speed, slipped under and past the kick before punching up Korius' gut, aiming under his ribs.

On the GA Demolition, the marines ran through the corridor, turning left to a dead end with one door. Beside it, something moved inside the wall. A vent cover came loose, and Tina popped her head out.
"Great, you guys are here. Ok, basically there are a lot of security in there," she said, pointing to the door. I'm gonna jump in through the vent and open the door. You lot better come in guns blazing, ok. Or else we're all dead. Once in, Max can open the cells to the captain and my mate. Okay?"

Korius took the hit and grabbed Afgha's arm in the process. As he landed, he grounded his feet and rotated the arm, twisting it over Afgha's shoulder and took a step forward to break the arm.

Tina froze, her face turning stone serious. She didnt blink as she took in what they said.
"We're not stopping. I thought Max would have taken something on the way to you. I guess he didn't have the chance. We're not stopping. I'll do it myself if I have to." She blinked, turning away and looking down the corridor. "I haven't got anything else left."

Afgha felt his arm straining under the pressure. He watched Asia type in the codes, and he stood his ground. Stepping forward, he heard his arm snap. The suit halted the pain for a while, and he grabbed Korius' throat, pushing him over the catwalk railing.

"Parents always think kids are wasting their youth, and always have done [so] down through the millennia," says Tom Forsyth of RAD Game Tools. "'That Ug, always holding things. His front paws will develop in funny ways. Why can't he walk on all fours like normal proto-hominids?' And so, whatever the kids spend the most time doing, that's always what parents think is a waste of time, and what is corrupting their lives. It doesn't matter what that is. If all they did was homework, parents would be worrying that their kids aren't becoming well-rounded people. And, in fact, parents do this - enrolling math nerds in karate classes and the like. There is no way to win - parental paranoia ensures that kids are always doing the wrong thing."
