Coffeemaking is like the one thing I like to think I know how to do by now.
Mom taught me how to use the coffeemaker when I was like 8 or something, so that she could sleep in and just get up and grab coffee after we'd left for school.
Because kids at that age love to be able to help out with stuff like that.

Everything else I don't have much of an idea about tho.

Yeah, my grandma always let me do it when I was around (which was twice a week, back then), when I was about 8.

But, the thing is, I'm using one of those drip things now, so the results kinda vary each time... >_>

Cat doesn't have a coffeemaker at all since he doesn't drink coffee, so I have adapted to just surviving on instant coffee when there.
Dissolves in water and gives a predictable result each time.

Well, I've been drinking it daily for quite long... XP

I should ask my dad to teach me his secrets once more.

Although, that being said, I also make fairly small batches each time of just half a liter, so that might have something to do with it.
