Lots of what we get is either physics based, or standardised norms / laws / regulations based, and those aren't very highly prone to change at all.
Sure, things like Variable frequency drives, PLC's, and the rise of field networks were a gamechanger, but because the nature of places you find you those things, they'll still be around for atleast a few decades.
