Most finnish furs hang on either one of the two "official" finnish furry irc-channels, the Finfur forums and/or the Finfur chatroom.
I used to too, but my presence only killed threads and made the chats awkward (because everyone else was writing in finnish) so I decided to go search for some other place where I wouldn't have to worry about my language too much >->'

I've lived here all my life and I still can't speak it properly, so yeah, I'd say that that rumour is true :'P (I'm blaming that on me being a stupid child and my teachers not knowing how to teach tho. >-> "Gee, you don't need to understand the grammatical rules at all. Just copy what's on the blackboard so we can move on" >->')
I still -understand- the language perfectly tho, but since most finns understandably have the mindset of "I never cared to do well on my swedish studies in school. You're the minority and would have to learn finnish anyway. Why can't you speak finnish instead?" they rarely understand me unless I speak english xP It kinda makes me feel like a pokemon sometimes xD
(I'm part of the finland-swedish minority noone's ever heard about. That's why finnish is more like my "second" language and swedish my first. I still consider finnish to be more like the third language and english my second.[size=78%])[/size]

More than a few, I'd dare say :'P I know of a few finnish furs who don't speak english at least since every time I bring up the argument of "English should make me fit in anyways since I still understand you all" there's always several furs who go all "My friend/brother/mother/sister/father/cousin/goldfish/uncle/aunt/grandma/dog can't speak english"

To my knowledge he can't speak Finnish at all xD (My ex was actually more Finnish than Swedish tho and it was pretty funny since he'd always mess up the Swedish "a" and "an" and some other things. Was cute at first but after a while it started to make me mess up on those things too  )

Another funny thing is that even tho both me and Zani speak Swedish, we still sometimes have issues understanding exactly what the other one mean because the dialects and words are a bit different since I speak Finland-swedish and he Sweden-swedish. So we usually speak/write English instead xP

@White, I was just watching an interview with John Cleese, he mentioned that he makes jokes at the expense of the French, Germans, Swedes, Australians and English and everyone is fine, but you start a joke with "there were these two Mexicans" and the audience goes deathly silent in political correctness anticipatory horror.

Yep, it's not fair.

I have to admit the only language I ever wanted to learn once, was French because it was offered in middle school. I actually enjoyed it, but I'd really like to learn German.

My mom used to have this pen pal in Berlin she'd write to almost every week. She had to learn German fluently to do so, and got really good at it. It's funny, sometimes we'd have her translate what the Nazis were saying in the Indiana Jones movies.


I picked up a few phrases and words from her, but nothing worth bragging about.
