The funny thing about getting tested for ADD and/or ADHD doesn't actually do anything for you except lead to potential segregation for future jobs, because any corporation or large company has instant access to such reports from your hospital records. It could potentially drop productivity too much, so they won't even look at your application.

I've already been diagnosed with ADHD-I, but it took a long time for my family to finally give in and figure it out for sure. I used to take medication, but it didn't do much. Now I choose to just cope with it in other ways. I also plan on changing my diet and reducing my intake of food colorings. It's not 100% proven to help, but It won't hurt to try.

The medication is also unknown by many to be long-term addictive and dangerous, the worst side-effect most commonly being insomnia and then depression.

Yeah. I don't think all do that, though. For me, they worked well enough at first, but would make me drowsy by the second half of the school day. About a week later, it began to do nothing except give me that drowsiness. I protested taking them afterward, but my family started doing the "ADHD medication = obedience pill" act, and it pissed me off so much I tossed the bottle at the wall when forced to take em. I began taking another type again a few years ago, still didn't help much. So I gave up on medication entirely. I figure it's for the best.
