Spike was able to see the door up ahead. Light was showing through the frame while a light whistling filled the hallway. A lot of the houses that had joined basements from a while back which were used for fire escape in the 19th century. Some of the houses even joined to others across the street. Since most of the houses had collapsed from bombing, basements were open and exposed allowing for easy access outside. Upon earlier recon, Spike noted that there was a lot of cover from fences and houses when he looked out of his nest in the window. The yards were empty.

Shiro knelt in front of the door, shotgun ready.

Spike walked past Shiro and kicked the door open. Spike stood in the doorway. He was right about having easy access to the outside. He looked around and then looked up at the firey sky. It was was quiet. In the distance there was the booming of artillary and gunfire. He looked back at Kiala before he spoke. "Taking point?" He stepped aside.

She quickly nodded in understanding and stepped forward into the lead. Her bow had already been strung, so there was no worry about lack of weaponry, but still, the sight of the burning sky and the far-away sounds of bullets ricochet off of walls, off of each other, off of...she didn't want to know. In her hands, the bow trembled.

"Are we running toward or away from that noise?" Kiala asked weakly. It may have come off as a stupid question, but she was serious about it...for all they knew, there could be someone in that turmoil that needed their help. Though...if not...then she could likely be setting herself -and the others- up for a death trap.

"Towards" said Edward. "We left someone behind a while ago & that might be them. If not, however it is probably needs our help anyway..." He looked at Tavor and asked. "Or am I jumping down your throat?"
"I'd rather be happy than right any day!!"
"And are you?"
"No, and that's where it all comes apart I suppose""
"Pity, it seemed like such a good lifestyle..."

Should live? That was a bit on the vauge side...

"Okay then, ya'll," she said, briefly slipping back into her redneck accent. "Keep them tails on end, never know what'll pop up in this iffy place." Stateing the obvious, of course, but Kiala's social skills tended to lack.

Macintosh at her heels, Kiala continued to lead the group forward, twoards the god-awful sounds, trying to look brave about it. Every now and then, as she slunk along the sidewalk, she would think she saw a flash of something- a flash of darkness -but then it would be gone. The dog whined and trotted ahead.

Suddenly, in the center of Kiala's flashlight beam, was a shadow without an owner.  The shadow seemed to grunt angrily and darted out of the light, disappearing into the darkness.  More grunts seemed to come from all around, as the darkness itself seemed to shift about.  Then, without warning, a massive slash appeared on Shiro's back as one of the Spectres moved in for the kill.

"GOD (bleep) IT!"
He turned around it time to shoot the shadow with a shotgun. It was lucky his pack was back there, and it cut through it, his ammo and Machine gun falling out.
"Contact! What the (bleep) are these creeps?!'

Kiala screamed girlishly as the shadow launched an initial attack, but, then, remembering she needed to at least appear like she had some guts, the cow shut her mouth and whipped around, pulling back her arrow and aiming into the darkness, where the hellish sounds of shadows clinked against each other. "Shiro!" she called, glancing back at her comrades. "Did you get hit?"

Where is that dang thing? She thought. It had come out of nowhere for an attack, then...disapeared into nowhere...what was it planning?

Another shadow darted through the group, tearing at Spike's legs.  The shadows were moving faster now, as they began to work themselves into a frenzy.

"SPECTRES!" Tavor yelled, opening fire blindly... he heard a grunt of pain and fired at the source, tearing what he thought was head from body with the sheer amount of shells.

"Aw (censored), THERE'S TOO MANY, RUN BACK TO THE LIGHT!"
he yelled before firing backwards again, missing some shots and getting a glancing hit on others.
