Carol let out a deep breath, closing her eyes. "Oh God. I've never known why.......these things have had such an interest in him. Just.....he came home a day ago screaming about being bit by a unicorn, and first thing I know he's sick as a dog and the thing that bit him comes breaking into his room trying to bite him again. The creature, he said that he was helping Jordan, helping him feel better. Said he didn't want any trouble. But all that really happened was my boy got turned into one of them too." In utter anger intertwined with confused despair, she slammed her fist down on an end table, making the glass in the picture frames rattle. She lowered her head into the crook of her arm, sobbing weakly. "I swear...I swear I'm gonna kill that monster. I'm gonna kill him."

Neco set the boy down on a bed of moist aspen leaves, spread out specifically for resting inside a makeshift tent. 'Tent City' had unfortunatley been the most creative name his superiors could come up with for their Base, though it fit perfectly. It was, for the most part, made up of tent after tent, set up in strategic positions on a wooded hillside, secluded miles away from human society. It was often cold to be up this high, near the base of the mountain, and it was also dangerous, considering the many jagged cliff faces. But it was far better than being near people.
I have arrived at Base safely, Lorazys. I shall perform a cleansing then come help you, be I needed. He Thought.
Next to the bed was a tiny wooden table, carved with various insignas and intricate symbols. And on top of that, there rested several medical devices that looked more feral than usuable. They were not made of metal, nor did they contain any advanced, alien forms of technology. They were simply made of wood, of rock, of bone, of natural things.
He took one of them, a long bone hallowed out with its ends removed, and blowed on it gingerly. It let out a mournful tweet.
Then Neco proceeded to rub the sides of the boy's face, mumbling words in an eccentric tounge, so slurred together that even one of his own race would not be able to understand. This was an ancient ritual for cleansing. Had he forgotten to do it...the boy would have been stone-dead within a day.
