((Yes, the title is homage to Falcor from The Neverending Story, seeing as how it so closely relates to the magical setting... :) ))

Story

For many, the plains of Falcor has long been a wonderful place to call home. Waving grass. Delicatley dug systems of canals to bring water to both tribal homes and farmland. The rolling plains stretch for, quite literally, thousands of miles. Very rare is it that someone has managed to breach their egde. But who exactly lives here? The answer is simple. The Tribes of Falcor.

Communities, mostly nomadic, built upon hundreds of years of tribal tradition. Communities of diffrent standings. Often, the tribes fight amoungst each other, but things always tend to settle down after a few years.

That is, until everything these tribes knew about their world changed.

Enter the Darklings. Hellish, brutal demons, bent upon annihilation of this world and the inhabitants thereof. Already they have desecrated five tribes. And they are attempting to destroy others. Can your tribe survive the onslaught and find away to bring peace back to the plains? A Falcor plains-wide meeting has been set up. Tribes from across the plains have journied to Canal Junction, where all the canals that supply water join into one lake. They plan on setting aside diffrences and joining as best they can into one Tribe that will fight against the Darklings.

Other Information

* The tribes are mostly nomadic. There are NO advanced tribes, we are talking mud houses, herds of sheep, and teepees here, people who hunt and live off the land like the Native Americans of old. Using this pre-historic basis, be creative with your tribes.

* Magic IS allowed, but no random magic. It must relate to the species and history of your tribe.

* I am the ruler of the demons. I control what they do but I promise to be fair. If you really really really want to play a demon character alongside me, you can, just PM me about it first. HOWEVER, you must also be playing at least TWO tribes in the game and must have posted at least ten posts if you want to climb up the ranks and play a demon.

* No outsiders. That is, no tribes from beyond Falcor plains.

* Obviously, this is the most simple RP I’ve ever made, but just because it’s bare-bones and simple does not mean I don’t want you to be literate. No one-liners. Three lines or more, please. And creativeness is always appreciated.

* You can have up to three tribes. I will post examples of my own tribes sooner or later to help you.

* The biggest thing you are probably wondering is how the game will work if there are no central characters. It’s easy. You just go ahead and play as different members of your clan when they are needed for the story. Feel free to have favorite characters that you play more than the other clan members. Also feel free to be sparing with the not so needed members, like random women and children.

* As you can see, I’m still working on this. It has a long way to go so feel free to pitch in suggestions or ask questions. I am STILL working on the Darklings, and you will get a taste of just what they are, what they look like, and how they function when I post the first post on Monday.

* All rules that are normal to most RPs apply. I don’t feel like listing them and don’t have the time anyway.

* WHAT I SAY GOES BUT FEEL FREE TO ARUGE CONSTUCTIVELY.

4. Species? Shark

5. History? It is rumored that they first came to be in an ocean somewhere far, far away from the plains, but after the wrath of the Gods bore down on their sinful ways, they reformed, becoming a peaceful people, and packed up to move eastward, later making a permanent home of the plains.

6. If nomadic, what is their year-long traveling schedule? They generally perform a wide arc circle around the plains, a travel that takes four years to complete.

7. Do they mostly hunt or live off the land? How do they do these things and who does it? They are very skilled hunters, better than others of similar breed, and hunting is how they’ve made a name for themselves. Any adult is allowed to hunt, even females.

10. What is their usual “War” strategy? Who do they send to fight when they have to fight other clans, where and how? Almost always, it is the adult men who fight, but women are allowed on occasion. 12. Can this Tribe use magic? If so, can everyone, or only certain people? Yes, and everyone can, though the children must be taught first. It is a special sort of water magic.

13. How do they teach their Younglings? They have an eight year plan for teaching children, beginning at age five and working up to age thirteen. Both boys and girls are trained to hunt, fish and perform simple duties. Boys are singularly taught in warfare and in special things, such as mathematics.

14. What are some traditions and stories/fables passed down through generations? (N/A as of yet.)

15. Do they value women and children? Or are they put on the back-burner? Women and children are valued highly, though often men feel they must be protected and therefore exclude them from certain activities.

16. How far have they traveled to meet up with all these other clans at Canal Junction? Around five hundred or so miles.

17. Do they feel okay with setting aside differences with other clans or are they doing it grudgingly? They do not know many of these clans, and, even if they did have rivals, this is a clan that likes to let go of grudges as soon as possible.

18. Do you have favorite characters you want to play for your clan? If so, describe them. (N/A as of yet.)

I might like this one. Most of my relatives live in a village that... well you could say is cut off from civilisation. I'll just base my tribe on them.

1. Tribe Name:
Paras

2. How Long Has Your Tribe Been Around?
3-4000 years

3. What is the general appearance of your tribe? As in, what do MOST of the people look like?
There is no average. This is probably the most diverse tribe in existence. Fur can range from pitch black to platinum blonde. Eyes from deep brown to blazing blue or a dead grey. some have no less than four colours in their eyes. Shape can vary, five feet tall, others are over six, but most are generally slim. They have strong masculine jawlines, very pronounced noses and massive powerful eyes with big lashes. Eye shape varies from person to person, some can be born slim and then grow up with their eyes changing to large, round piercing stares.
One aspect is almost always kept though. The men look dangerous and evil, as though they're going to kill everyone in the room. It's probably the angular faces and piercing eyes that do this. Or maybe it's the expressive brow. The women look enigmatic, deep with layers and possibilities. The older ones often look more harrowing. That said, it takes a long time for Paras to age. A woman in her mid-thirties could have the fur of a thirteen year old.
Clothing covers most of the body, leaving only the hands, feet and head for men, and for women, the top and back of the head is hidden. Generally their clothes are basically shalwar Kameez though are generally not particularly flashy unless one can afford it. That said, in comparison to other tribes, their clothes are more suited to a glaringly bright carnival.
Sometimes they put on fur dyes, often earthy colours. Eyeliner is occasionally used by the women and children, just to make their eyes even bigger.

4. Species?
Snow Leopard

5. History?
Formed from the Ten Lost Tribes of Asaria, they formed together with their collective language and identity, forming that people. Though they have only in the last two hundred years been a more cohesive structure.

7. Do they mostly hunt or live off the land? How do they do these things and who does it?
They live off the land and keep livestock. Each house has their own farms, some have more farms than others. The animals for each family rarely breach forty of each species and they are taken around the local area down dry river beds to get to grazing pastures. The farms are often used to generate food for trade, or to feed the animals if need be.
Everyone farms. Women, men, children, toddlers, everyone.

8. What is the community’s general reaction to the Darklings?
They don't care as long as they don't attack their village or the villages of any close relations.

9. Are they a mostly violent or mostly peaceful clan? Why?
They are the most violent, powerful, dangerous people you could ever meet. They are feared across Falcor as feeling no pain and always achieving victory. Even in non-violent contests, everyone expects the Paras to win... why? cus they're Paras. That said, if you ever did meet them, you would be treated like royalty. Hospitality, respect and loyalty are the highest laws in the culture. Nobody is ever allowed to kill a visitor, unless that visitor does something insulting, offensive or illegal against you. If anyone does something bad, swift and violent justice is brought down upon them. They have also have blood-feuds which kills a lot of people. Some blood feuds end simply because they've run out of men to fight with.

10. What is their usual “War” strategy? Who do they send to fight when they have to fight other clans, where and how?
They fight anywhere and only with men. Generally the regular thing to do is to run up to the enemy and stab them 'til they're dead. Poisoning is generally looked down upon, in fact anything where you wont look your enemy in the eye is frowned upon... but that doesnt mean people dont do it. A regular interclan altercation involves little skirmishes or assassinations. If the enemy is in their beds, one would bang on the door and order them to come outside to get stabbed.

11. What weapons do they build and utilize?
They're not the most technological of people, and generally get the more advanced blades from other tribes. If all else fails, you've always got sticks.

12. Can this Tribe use magic? If so, can everyone, or only certain people?
Magic is seen as evil.

13. How do they teach their Younglings?
They put them to work, teaching them through experience.

14. What are some traditions and stories/fables passed down through generations?
They have nine guiding rules:
Hospitality: Treat visitors like royalty
Asylum: Help those in need, put them in your home, give them food shelter, bend over backwards for them
Justice: Swift, violent, unforgiving. If murder is involved, then the murderer's next of kin is murdered, and the one who murdered the next of kin is murdered by the family of the previously murdered and so on and so on. That's how blood feuds start.
Bravery: Flee? Never heard of the word.
Loyalty: Family, friends, the bond is stronger than a bullet or a bomb.
Rightousness: Doing right, always do right things in mind, voice and action.
Trust in God: exactly what you think it means
Honour and Dignity: This one is so important. They are ultimately proud and honourable. They must show utmost respect to their family, their elders and especially to people they dont know. To do something undignified is liable to get you a beating.
Dignity of women: Women may be treated like crap, but if anyone defiles them, all hell breaks loose.

15. Do they value women and children? Or are they put on the back-burner?
Back-burner? nice choice of words cus they wouldn't care if a woman accidently caught fire while cooking. Women are viewed as next to nothing. Girls seen as even less. The men rule. That said, an intelligent, capable, manipulative woman can be very dangerous and very powerful.

16. How far have they traveled to meet up with all these other clans at Canal Junction?
A good thousand miles

17. Do they feel okay with setting aside differences with other clans or are they doing it grudgingly?
They would willingly do everything for their friends and allies. Teaming up with rivals just isnt something they do. They think they can survive on their own just fine. They've not been beaten in thousands of years for a reason.

18. Do you have favorite characters you want to play for your clan? If so, describe them.
I've got nothing concrete, we'll see as the story goes on, but two that i will have around are two elders.
There would be the village elder, wise, good and fair white haired old man. He's reaching his death bed and will be missed by many.
The second is almost the opposite. A blonde, blue eyed seventy year old witch. In her youth, she was stunningly beautiful, and even now she has kept most of her looks. She is the one in charge. She is manipulative and fiercely intelligent, playing her family against eachother. She now gets everyone under her thumb to give her all the money they earn. In return, she gives them an allowance. Her sons feel disgraced and have become violent and aggressive to all others, but they cannot and will not rise up to defeat the matriarch. She is in utter control.

"Parents always think kids are wasting their youth, and always have done [so] down through the millennia," says Tom Forsyth of RAD Game Tools. "'That Ug, always holding things. His front paws will develop in funny ways. Why can't he walk on all fours like normal proto-hominids?' And so, whatever the kids spend the most time doing, that's always what parents think is a waste of time, and what is corrupting their lives. It doesn't matter what that is. If all they did was homework, parents would be worrying that their kids aren't becoming well-rounded people. And, in fact, parents do this - enrolling math nerds in karate classes and the like. There is no way to win - parental paranoia ensures that kids are always doing the wrong thing."
