An interesting opportunity

Hi,

I received your email address from thefurryforum.com.

My name is Elyse and I am a Psychology student at the University of Hawaii.  For class, we have to do studies to then present to class.  I looked into the Development and Validation of the Attitudes about Sadomasochism Scale, which looked into how the general public perceived Sadomasochism.

For my survey, I adapted the questions from this scale, but changed it to Furry.  I am interested in seeing how the general public perceives being a Furry as well as how people's preconceived notions of certain terms determine their beliefs toward a group of people.

I was wondering if you could either post this on your site for a couple of weeks, since I have to present to my class at the end of March, or if you have any suggestions for where to post this.

Also, because of the time constraints for my survey, I am not able to ask as many questions as I wish I could but I want to definitely want to include the opinions of Furries in this study as well in order to compare answers.

OK so I took the quiz and I didn't totally agree with with the definition and one of those questions made it just seem all sexual pluses I don't like how some of them are worded so it will make the answer a little off and could be taken the wrong way

I have to agree with Sain on that. Plus, some of the questions are far too generic and assume stereotypes of sexual desires.

However, I will help this by posting it on another furry website to help it along. On a side note, you should let Elyse know about some of the input we give on this.

Yeah this survey does make assumptions. I mean the definition itself is narrow, saying that furries can ONLY be role players or sexual fetishists. It's not blatant in its narrow ideas, but can be seen as a more subconscious assumption and can therefore skew the results. it is scientifically unsound.

BUH? Activity like drawing, making costumes, going to cons and collecting comics? I put down neither agree nor disagree since there was not an option to skip the question.

hmm that was an odd survey. I didnt quite understand all of it..... I too agree with sain. The definition didn't really describe the bases of a furry.
