Favourite Classic Games/Consoles
« on: April 15, 2010, 08:58:02 PM »
Sorry if this had already been done! I couldn't see any topics like it...
Same as title, list your favourite classic games and/or game consoles that you have fond memories of.

I never really got into gaming until I was about 9 or 10, and therefore I could only play games that were my brothers, and so he didn't have the really classic consoles like the N64. However he did have some great games that I loved very much :D These were:

Pokemon Yellow - I mean, who didn't play Pokemon? Granted I never got to finish it since he wanted it back, but still... the pikachu that followed you around was so cute :3

Conker Live and reloaded on Xbox - I never got to play the N64 version 'Conker's Bad Fur Day', and I suppose Live and Reloaded isn't really a classic, however this one is  for me since I played it so much when I was stuck at home from school with a broken ankle :P

Monkey Island - Oh man, this game was great! I remember playing it on our reaaaally old PC with no internet and windows 94, I never got to finish it though :(

That's all I've got for the moment, but I'll probably update this later since I'm certain I forgot some...

That's just adorable and horrific at the same time. I'm so old that young people think the N64 is a "reeeaally" classic console (checks wikipedia) IT WAS RELEASED IN 1996!? That's not even 15 years ago.

that said, I only played ancient games because I'm poor and we got our old consoles and PCs for super cheap. The first console I ever had was an Atari2600, and by far one of my favourite games on there was Joust. Beautiful gameplay, beautiful visuals, dynamic, exciting, it had it all. The most fun I ever had riding a giant chicken.

there were others like Food Fight, Kangaroo, Boxing (by Activision), Fishing (by Activision) and of course Asteroids (which came with the console)
"Parents always think kids are wasting their youth, and always have done [so] down through the millennia," says Tom Forsyth of RAD Game Tools. "'That Ug, always holding things. His front paws will develop in funny ways. Why can't he walk on all fours like normal proto-hominids?' And so, whatever the kids spend the most time doing, that's always what parents think is a waste of time, and what is corrupting their lives. It doesn't matter what that is. If all they did was homework, parents would be worrying that their kids aren't becoming well-rounded people. And, in fact, parents do this - enrolling math nerds in karate classes and the like. There is no way to win - parental paranoia ensures that kids are always doing the wrong thing."

Let's see... Gyromite (NES), Gato (Atari 2600 if I do remember correctly), Bug Zapper (Atari 2600)/Duck Hunt (NES), the "original" Zelda's for the NES, and Dr Mario.

well some classic consoles that I still have and love would be the N64, Dreamcast, and stuff like that.
I have two favorite classic games that still rule my world!
Army men: Sarges heros
A great game with well animated plastic toy solders and a lot of fun and action and stuff.

Another great game would be Donky Kong 64
That was so much fun! Blastin those bad dudes down with diddie's dual peanut blasters or DK's cocanut gun. I might go play that now....

I <3 all of the following classics:

Sega Genesis

All Sonic games, even the Pinball one which had some cool intro music that always got me excited to play XD.

SNES

Earthbound Mother, Zelda: A Link to the Past, All the Mario games except Paint >.>, and that's pretty much it because I never actually owned a SNES game console.

N64

N64 being about 14 years old is more than 3/4 of my life so I consider it classic. I loved Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Paper Mario, Glover, Banjo Kazooie, Super Mario 64, Conker's Bad Fur Day *Much better on N64 in my opinion because you get two UZI's on the last mission instead of just one >.>*, Rampage World Tour, Doom 64, and Pokemon Stadium *Even more awesome when you could play Pokemon Blue, Red, Yellow on the TV :3*.

NES

Zelda, Super Mario Bros. + Duck Hunt, all the other Mario games *especially the rom hacks*, Castlevania and Earthbound.

Playstation

I consider Playstation to be classic as well since it's pretty much as old as N64 is. All the Crash Bandicoot and Spyro games XD, Resident Evil 1, Gran Turismo, Gex, Grand Theft Auto I and II, and Duke Nukem because yes it's on there.

Gameboy/Gameboy Advance

All pokemon games, all Wario Land games, all Super Mario Land games, all Game and Watch gallery games, all Castlevania games, Golden Sun I and II, Fire Emblem I and II, Final Fantasy I and II, and a few other games.

Multiple Arcade Machines

I don't really know the name of all these arcade machines, but I love these games. Ikari Warriors, 1944, Zombie Raid, Time Crisis 1 and 2, Area 51, Mortal Kombat 1, 2, and 3, Street Fighter, Tekken, and lots of others I can't remember :P

Wow, I wish I got to play all those games when I was little!

White, I just got to the 'It's War' chapter in my replay of Live and Reloaded, and you get two UZI's in BFD? NO WAI, why'd they make it only one in L&R :(

I just remembered another one of my favourite classic games; Link's Awakening for Gameboy! Oooh man I loved this game so much! Unfortunatly I lost it in town since I carried the gameboy + games with me everywhere haha, but I bought it again from amazon a couple of years ago! :D

Yeah I was super disappointed they only did one uzi, it was really lame. However the zombie mission in the Dracula castle was friggin awesome, much better than the original that's for sure c: The improved aiming system with the shotgun made everything so much better.
