Time seemed to endlessly go on as she laid on her bed. She was interrupted when her father came in to check on her. "That didn't take long." He commented, standing in her doorway looking at all of the boxes. "Not long at all."
Marlowe didn't get up, she just continued lying in her mattress. "It didn't take long because there wasn't much to pack. We just moved, remember?"
Mordecai frowned at his daughter's comments. "I know..." He crossed his arms and leaned on the frame of the door. "I know we did, but.. I uh, I got a job opportunity that I just couldn't turn down." he lied. In truth, the loan sharks had actually figured out that they had escaped to Japan to get away from them, but Mordecai didn't see the point in telling his daughter. She never truely knew of what his line of work entailed. "And when we move, I can get you whatever games it was that you wanted. I know you've been wanting some, we just haven't had the time to go get them."
Finally Marlowe sat up, looking at her dad. She didn't quite know what to say because he seemed to be almost bribing her. So, she just stared at him. "Yeah, I guess so." She rubbed the back of her neck and looked to where she had been laying on the bed.
"Now that you're packed, do you want to help me? I swear, it seems I have more things than you at times, and you're the girl here." Mordecai said, attempting to joke around with her, though she didn't seem to thrilled about it.
"Sure, why not?"
