That's fine, I'm just somewhat weary because I have a plot in mind already, and I just don't want too many elements to come together at once. I don't mind if there's a history for your species, just make sure if coincides with what already exists.
I'll go ahead and say that the reptiles were known for their brutal training; other people didn't agree with it (consider the training of the Spartans), but they were almost all trained to fight. The reptiles were something fierce to fear because of the broad spectrum of specialties they had; they had offensive fighters (such as dragons, raptors, gators, komodos, montiors, ect.), defensive fighters (turtles, thorny devils, ect.), and other specialists like doctors. They were also the equivalent of China at one period in time, focusing inward to make themselves more self reliant. After they were trained up, they moved outward, where they started to eradicate wolves and other canines in some blood related war; no one is sure why. Rumors spread about them moving outward to slaughter other mammals, but the reptilians seemed to disappear before anyone could confirm it. Again, no one knows why. People speculate that the mammals succumbed to black magic to kill them all off.
Of course, background shared here is something that our characters don't know just yet and won't know unless they stumble across it in town.
