Everflame 2 (FINISHED)

Chronin groaned after he turned his comm off and picked up pace towards the docking area, then pulled up a map by twisting a 'valve' on the opposite side of the comm. He put the comm back on and it displayed a HUD directly in the vision part of his brain, showing a universal compass and displaying his vitals. Activate scan program he 'ordered' as a multiple dots appeared in his vision, giving information on anyone he looked at; although it wasn't displayed in detail unless he focused both of his eyes on the target. The scaner was easily detectible by the tell-tale dull-red glow in his eyes as he looked about for his squad...

Annie sighed, pressing the palm of one hand to her forehead... "I'm sorry... Its just we live a life full of secrets, and so far the only reason im still alive is by only giving those secrets to them i trusts...." She dropped her hand back down at her side, putting the other arm around Blaze in a strong embrace... "I just try to keep my son safe.... He means everything to me, you know?"

It was then that the snake walked in, and he spoke Annie's hold on Blaze grew tighter... "Whadya mean bacteria?... He gona be alright?" Blaze pushed himself out of her grip, walking up to the snake...

In front of Chronin, double doors opened up. Most of the other squads had already left, so Squad D strolled out into the empty area, wearing matching mint uniforms, with Tabby and the human at the front. She wore her own clothes. Her tank top, and black button up top that tailed down behind her to her calves, and the legs to her jeans, reattached. She theatrically marched to Chronin, and stood to attention, saluting wildly.
"Squad D, ready to roll out," she said, suppressing a giggle.





The snake put his arm around Blaze, and walked him back through the ship. Reggie followed along behind and gestured for Annie to come with them. The snake looked back as they walked.
"We're gonna find out if he's okay, alright lady? We'll keep your boy as safe as we can." He led to a quick turn into a little alcove where the medbay was nestled, glowing in white walls and glass. Despite being dulled over time, it looked alien to the rest of the ship. Inside, there were two beds on either side, with one occupied by Jaack, covered in a bedcloth. "Just sit on that bed there, kid." The snake headed to a worktop pressed to the side, taking a swab, and using it to gather some blood from the boy's ear.

Nero smiled and rummaged though the cockpit for the registration.  "Kaicen Jones..."  Nero also gave out the registration number and Kaicen Jones Social Security Number (which he had plucked from his mind earlier).  "Am I free to go officer?"

Kitt had been running for hours. He had moved through the city like it was his own personal playground. He would vault from the roof tops spinning a quick series of flips, twist, and turns before landing on the roof of the next building. In exhileration he contacted the team.
"You guys have out done yourselves! I have been out here running for hours. I don't even feel tired! Can we try somthing to realy push my limits?"

Chronin looked at each of the members, his eyes pulling up their names and genders the instant he focused on them. "Tabby..." he announced while looking at her then calling off her favorite boys, starting from the crow. "...take Felix, Ted, Jace, Kev, and Halard to Spencer road while the rest of use take Flathead street." The other members gathered around him, all of them quietly dreading his possible hostility.

"I expect you all to take the scenic route since this is a patrol, just don't get side-tracked by the scenery with exception for obvious cases..." he said before looking at Tabby, partially expecting her to either nod or reply...

There was a pause on the EBP side, filled with static, before a voice scratched through.
"Okay sir, that checks out, you're free to leave. Have a nice journey."




Seema's silky voice eased into Kitt's mind. "Look over the skyline. There should be a tall building rising out of the city. It's the Temeri Tower, and reaches half a mile into the air. Climb it in twenty seconds, then jump off. We think you'll climb it in thirty, and become severely damaged when you hit the ground. Prove us wrong." The communication stopped, and the breeze filled the silence. Then her voice came back. "Don't jump headfirst. You'll kill yourself. We have a team ready at the bottom to help you."




Tabby pouted, with fists on her hips.
"I was hoping I could walk around with you, maybe pick up a meal on the way." The men murmured and laughed, nudging eachother and gesturing towards their leading lady. The human stepped foward with open arms to herd her back to her favourites.
"Don't worry Tabs, we'll keep you company." He looked over at Chronin, "Oh, and don't call me Ted. I'm Thread." Tabby kept her eyes on the dragon as well, flicking her tail from side to side. "Come on lads," said Thread. "Let's get going."

"Thank you very much sir."  Nero flew the ship away from Earth.  Using the information he had extracted from Mr. Jones mind, he plotted a course to the Capital Sphere.  Placing it on auto-pilot he got out of the cockpit and took a look around the ship.

Chronin tried to hold back a grin as Tabby was being 'herded' towards the people she was supposed to lead. "Thread, if you want to take lead, then Tabby will be helping me with those who did not 'earn her favor'. Otherwise, Tabby will watch over the other group while I keep an eye on you five; Which do you perfer?" One thing he didn't like in men, but tolerated in the opposite gender of his age, was a shifty attitude of being meek, then being dominant the next moment. "I would assume you would pick those two, then being punished for insuborination since Tabby is the one leading." he declared while putting a hand on his rifle...

Steam filled a suburban earth house, as firemen doused the flames. Police swarmed around. Uniformed officers frogmarched Kaisen Jones into a police car, heading off to the station, and two detectives, one human, one sparrowhaw, sat on the sidelines with a packet of crisps (potato chips).
"So what happened?" asked the avian.
"Neighbours heard screams and saw smoke pouring out. The firemen went in and found the mother dead at the dining table, a kid dead on the kitchen floor, and all but one of the other kids stuck in the closet." The human picked a crisp out of the bag and stroked a hand through his hair.
"Anybody left alive?" The sparrowhawk looked up, watching the steam and smoke embed itself into the sky.
"Well they can't find the youngest kid, and the dad was kicking and screaming through the whole thing. The mentalist was waving a knife around, screaming about the fire." He breathed a grim little chuckle. "We'll question him in a bit."
"Alright," said the bird. "But first let's get some proper food."





Tabby's frown disappeared, and Thread sidestepped out of the way as she bounced over to the dragon, grinning at his side.
"Thanks," she said. "You won't regret it."
"Felix will lead, not me." Thread laughed and headed to his group who then all headed off out of the building. Tabby waved as they went, then looked up at Chronin.
"Lead on."

Blaze winced lightly as the snake swabbed the cut in his ear... He stayed, arms crossed and waiting... "So.... These bacteria, whats so bad about 'em?"

Annie stood at the doorway to the medbay, standing very close to Reggie she watched the Snake intently... She rolled her eyes and Blaze's question, and couldnt help but smirk...

The snake smirked as he spread the blood onto a petri dish, and set it under a microscope.
"The bacteria in your wound is part of an intentional infection. That creature was poisonous, but doesn't use venom. It uses bacteria." He looked into the microscope as he talked. Reggie looked down to Annie standing close beside him, and tentatively reached an arm round her shoulder to comfort her. The snake grinned at the bacteria. "My friend has a similar effect, he's a komodo dragon"

Nero walked through the ship, non-chalantly.  The interior was fancy and luxorious.  The outside was sleek and smooth like a bullet.  Everything was colored in either white or bright red.  It was obviously made for looks and comfort...even if it was fuctional.

He hated it...

Nero wrapped his arm around a sturdy pole and opened the hatch to the outside.  All of the air was sucked out of the ship and into the vaccum of space.  When the decompression was complete he let go of the pole and climbed out onto the hull of the ship.  

The coldness of space against his bare flesh was ectasy to Nero as he crawled along the outside and stood atop the ship.  Nero allowed all of the breath to be taken from his lungs as he let the cold into his being, letting himself freeze.  Looking down at the ship at his feet, he placed a gnarled claw against the hull.

The hull suddenly came alive, screeching and groaning as it twisted out of shape.  Black crystals formed around Nero's claw and spread across the hull, shooting in every direction.  Black spires began jutting out of the crystal, wrapping around one another to form grotesque monuments to their creator.  Inside, glass from the instruments shattered as they were crushed under the weight of the crystal.  The once plush interior became scattered with horrid faces of those consumed and blade-like edges.  The ship now looked like a crystalline asteriod...carved into a nightmarish parody of a ship.  Nero melted into the crystal and rematerialized back in the cockpit with a grim smile on his face.

"Much better..."  Nero spoke into the vaccum inside his ship...making sound despite the lack of air.

Scratching worriedly at the nape of his neck Blaze frowned, he didnt like the sound of that... "So... Uh.... What exactly, does the bacteria do?" He twisted his tail nervously around one paw distractedly, watching the Snake lean over the microscope... Annie flinched and drew away from Reggies tentative embrace, a knee-jerk reaction that made her blush as she drew back beside him, allowing him to put his arm back around her. She watched the snake as well, eyes flicking back to Blaze every few seconds...

"Get the paramedic!" The officer keyed the code in and pulled open Kaicen Jones' cell. His face was pale, and blood pooled around him, and covered his fingernails. There was a large gash along his wrist, and through the meat, there was a hint of white bone. On the wall opposite him, blood had been smeared on the walls as writing.

The flame that does not burn, will be returned





The snake gave a vicious grin into the microscope, then rubbed his hands on his hawaiian shirt. He turned to face Blaze, keeping eye contact, and his face dropped into a serious stare.
"The bacteria gets into your bloodstream, and heads to your brain. You'll be in pain for a good while, and if untreated, you could suffer organ failure, cardiac arrest or brain death." He looked at the cut, then over to Annie. "Obviously it could be fatal."
Reggie squeezed Annie's shoulder, keeping her close to him.
