When Chronin gave Piyo the tip, she stared in astonishment at the amount, and barely managed a wave when they left. Tabby looked at him with incredulous laughter, until she got distracted or just wanted him to carry her.
When he opened the door, she peered inside at a soft front room, overflowing with strange little items accumulated over the years. There were brightly coloured feathers, a collection of strange old rocks, a slice of a tree and a mountain of books filling a good third of the walls in bookcases. She stepped inside and looked around, examining all the little trinkets while Chronin closed the door. In the top corner of the room, she could see a little light with the word JAsoN written beside it. Then a controlled male voice emanated out of the wall.
"Welcome home Chronin." It was the AI Chronin had designed to keep his Gran company while everyone else worked. "Your grandmother is in the living room"
"Who is it, Jason?," a small, raspy and high pitched old voice came from the room down the hall, which was lit up by flickering lights and sounds of exciting gunfights set to rough music.. There were mumbles between her and Jason, until she called out again.
"Aww welcome home kid! Jason tells me you've brought a friend."
Reggie watched them sleep before taking his chance and creeping into the medbay, over to Jaack. He switched on a little desk lamp to see his face and wished he hadnt. The rabbit looked worse every second. Reggie looked away, and crouched down, leaning back against the worktop. He looked up, and the lamplight was getting in his eyes, so with a little reach, he blindly fumbled for the switch. When he found it, and pressed it down, it made a strong and satisfying click, and covered the room dark again. He moved his hand back to his side, but caught the wire with his finger, pulling it with him. It thudded into his head and clattered against the floor. Reggie tensed up, trying his hardest not to make a sound.
