Sheesh... i am really happy to be back from computer hiatus, but seriously folks, what is up with the fandom?
While i was on Hiatus i was still keeping tabs in on all of my friends that i can get ahold of via facebook and phone, and i have been watching youtube videos and looking for art on DA, but what i am realizing is something that is bugging me. Constantly i am trying to give the Fandom a better name by telling people what we, or what I think, we are, and it seems like the evidence supporting the opposite keeps appearing.
okay, i think i got a little off on a ramble there, but here is the point:
We SAY that the furry fandom is not about sex, that it is more oriented to Role Play and art, but when you take a look around at the types of furries who are public, they follow the stereotype of the sex crazed furry. It's really hard to convince parents/friends/acquaintances that the fandom isn't all that bad when there are major examples of deviancy in plain view. I know I didn't join the fandom for all of that, but the one who do join for that particular reason are the ones that speak out and give us a bad name! I know not all of the Furs out there want to give us a bad name, but just looking at Facebook and other sites, it is a little depressing to see all of this.
Now, maybe sex rules other groups of people and not just the Furry fandom, but you don't hear about Goths or Gamers having kinky sex or drawing sex pictures and running them all over the web. Sometimes I have to fall back on my Gamer friends when Troll keep on attacking my DA and my Blog. I have had to take down and delete one of my blogs due to it being hacked by Trolls.
So, people, if we don't want to be told we are sex deviants and to have the whole internet after our tails, I think we should keep the yiffy pictures to 18 up sites like FA and DA. We shouldn't go out and talk to the media about all of our kinks and deviancies, like in the BBC documentary "Alice in Wonderland" talking about furries. We will just get more bad press. It may be a lifestyle for some people, but the people to whom it is a FANDOM, and has always been a fandom, we get the blame for people who abuse furry.
I don't care what you do behind closed doors, in fact i encourage you to express yourself. But in front of people that are A) not interested or
wouldn't understand, it is a problem.
okay... i apologize if i kinda rambled there a bit, but i hope you get the gist and comment.
