It's at times like these that I remember that while my laptop is pretty good for a laptop, it's nothing compared to a good desktop. You've got a pretty good setup from the looks of things and darn, both your desktop and laptop are beyond anything in this house :P
Also, what version of Ubuntu Linux are you running and are you running 32-bit or 64-bit (I assume the latter)?

Anywho, onto my lesser specs, which I'll mostly copy-paste from the old computer specs topic in General:
OS: Linux Mint 9 Isadora - x64 Edition (fairly heavily customised) & Windows Vista Home Premium (pretty much never used)
Kernel: Linux 2.6.31.21-generic x86_64 (pretty old I know, even by Ubuntu/Mint standards but there are some bugs concerning my hardware with newer kernels)
Memory: 4GB DDR3
CPU: 2x Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual  CPU  T3400  @ 2.16GHz (cache size = 1024kb)
Motherboard: CathedralPeak (Acer), Intel Corporation Mobile 4 Series Chipset
BIOS: Phoenix (V1.10)
HDD: 320GB Western Digital, Model ATA WDC WD3200BEVT-2
Graphics: Mobile Intel GM45 Express Chipset
Ethernet Controller: Marvell Technology Group Ltd. 88E8071 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
Network Controller: RaLink RT2860
Model: Acer Aspire 5735z
Battery: rechargeable (LION) with 4400 mAh capacity
Casing: Stock
Usable USB 2.0 Ports: 3
DVD/CD drive: HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GT10N
Card reader: Generic Multicard
Current boot speed: 45 seconds (that's "boot to a fully loaded desktop and including the few seconds spent at login screen". Pretty long wait, but with Vista I recall it taking several minutes)

Not too shabby for a laptop that I got over a year and a half ago now. Graphics card fails badly for gaming but I can live with it. Vista is pretty much never used, even for gaming. Hopefully the next computer I get will either be a custom desktop or something I've built, although I must admit I'm more of a software guy than a hardware guy >.<
The farewell was premature. My definite stay is not definite. The constants are variable. The greeting was too late.

Haha I  love the Xclio case package; this thing is real heavy though. Solid steel through the whole thing, and nothing is cheapy or breakable. Not only that, like your's, it's fun to feel it and notice it's like 40 degrees to the touch lol Thing lights up like  space ship too though o.o

Save up money, go to newegg.com, look around, research, and order parts to create your own, or upgrade your current one. That's what I did~

Oh don't feel too bad lol! I JUST got rid of my 7 year old Dell Dimension 4600 a few months ago. I used it for five years~ Just now sold it to a friend of mine after upgrading it and changing out that horrible case it had (Thing was a Bword to change though. Dell really tries to make their computers cases nonchanging.)
