You also need to think about the fact that crying is often considered weak and pathetic in our culture, so it is likely that people feel humiliated when they cry, especially in front of others. The study focuses on a rather small number of women, and only women. What about men? It would probably be even worse when you take the societal pressure into account.
Also, the article shows no proof that it was the actual crying that made them feel worse, and not simply thinking and overthinking about the issues that lead them to cry in the first place. You normally don't completely forget about a problem after crying. Crying is temporary relief--it was never supposed to be permanent anyway--but I'm sure it doesn't make one's mood worse on its own. Actually fixing the problem or accepting it is the best way to truly be relieved, and that takes a lot of time in many cases.
I'd also bring up the fact that this is written by Dailymail, since I've heard bad things about them, but I suppose that is irrelevant in this case.
Back on topic, my mate and I are one step closer to moving. We just need to find an apartment, and we'll be all set. I can't wait. ><
