As of 25 minutes ago, we recieved the signal from New Horizons spacecraft that ALL systems are nominal and all the data has been collected, after a 22-hour no-communication period. The signal took 4.5 hours to return to Earth from beyond Pluto. The best images of Pluto ever are being transmitted right now and will be released tomorrow. New Horizons buzzed Pluto earlier today clocking 31,000 mph.
Congratulations again to humanity for reaching another milestone - as of today, we have visited ALL of the major bodies in our solar system. I am so f*cking proud!
You took a hunk of metal, launched it 9.5 years ago, had it sling-shot around Jupiter like 5 years ago, and it ended up within a few miles where you wanted it to go, setting a speed record while you were at it. GET HER DUN. YES!!!
