Finally got around to giving Pokemon super mystery dungeon a second chance.
I'm quite happy to find it's kinda steered the game back into the right direction.
It also gave me a newfound respect for Chikorita (as I restarted the game and went with what creature the game told me I am). I can't say I ever hated that critter (it's a freaking dinosaur after all, and I love toony dinosaurs), but it just seemed awfully meh when compared to Totodile or Cyndaquil. Turns out it's actually a perfect embodiment of "Adorable but deadly"<3
Still kinda annoyed with the pacing tho. And 6 hours of what's essentially a tutorial?
That left me with ~18 hours of actual story content (+10 more for the epilogue, which could actually be completed at my own pace)
I don't like it when games go "Oh but we HAVE to go to *place* RIGHT THIS INSTANT", to the point where it won't even let me go pick up rewards or even think of going in a different direction to what it tells me.
But overall, I'm happy with this game and think it's a nice and proper entry in the Pokemon mystery dungeon series.
Not quite as good as the first two games (which doesn't really mean much, as Explorers of Time/Sky set the bar really really high), but absolutely not bad. Definitely makes the previous 'game' in the series seem like a demo in comparison.
Really hoping there will be more games, and that they all can at the very least match this one.
