Why is homosexuality is more common in the fandom than in general society?

In general the fandom seems to encourage people to explore their sexuality and this is facilitated by the lowered social expectations and the already large amount of LGBT individuals. It is also easier for individuals to accept themselves within an accepting and friendly community like the fandom.

On the topic of trolls; I believe that people who are prejudiced against certain sexual orientation are just trolls trying to justify their own insecurity.

Sadly life is a bridge, there are trolls everywhere

Anyways,  I don't see calling something weird bad, I mean we call things that we can't do stupid, its just a way of labeling things, not that big of a deal in my opinion

Straights are the largest percentage of the fandom, but over half of the fandom is an alternate-sexuality.
But I agree with most of the other people that the fandom has lower social expectations so it's easier to be different here. Outside of the fandom people will likely judge you for who you are, in the fandom it seems people generally try not to.

true but i guess ever one has stuff they want to hid out side of the fandom and can be more open about it in the fandom

that true that also another resin why i call my self a furry.... there is some stuff i will need to hide about my self from my mate, un less she feels the same way as i do and is accepting like iam... but beeing a furry iam not going to hide that ill tell her that iam a furry if she freaks ill just have to ex plane it to her
